A new, mysterious app that determines one's perfect match takes the university by storm. Taehyung, tired of being lonely, tries it out in hopes of a fairly decent companion. He doesn't expect his match to be the most sought after student on campus. #taekookau πŸ”ž [ Minors DNI. ]

– Uni students TH x JK. – Strangers to lovers. – Will contain mature themes from time to time and might even be nsfw. πŸ”ž So minors, DO NOT read or interact and don't follow me. – Starting soon. Will continue if I'm happy with the response! Interest check below. Click anything!
Taehyung pulls the hood of his sweatshirt over his head, and hooks the elastic strings of his mask over either of his ears. He combs his bangs with his fingers to cover his eyes, and checks himself out in the mirror. Perfect. Hidden. Obstructed from vision.
This is the only way he feels comfortable walking around on campus or to class. Taehyung doesn't want people to look at him and form opinions. He doesn't like the idea of being perceived. He doesn't want people who know nothing about him to judge him based on one look.
So, he prefers keeping a low profile. Doesn't really talk to a lot of people. It's a far cry from how friendly and exuberant he used to be when he was younger, but as he grew older, he learnt that the world isn't a nice place. And hence, he made peace with being inconspicuous.
He is fine with it. Rather likes it, away from all the drama and the chaos. Doesn't really have friends here, but it's okay. It's not like anyone approaches him anyway. It's not like he wants them to – most people here seem to be so full of themselves.
So here he is now, going about his day like the lone wolf he is, walking through the university gates. It's exactly like usual, except today, he notices an unusually large crowd where the common bulletin board is mounted to the wall.
He looks at his watch. His classes don't start for another half an hour, and he doesn't want to push in through so many people just to look. So, he stands under a tree and waits for the crowd to dissipate. Around ten minutes later, the last curious person leaves.
Before anyone else can come to take a look, Taehyung rushes to the board, and tries to find out what's new and so intriguing. And then, his eyes land on a flyer about some app. Before he can read details, he hears footsteps, so he quickly snaps a picture and leaves.
He still has a few minutes in hand, so he sits down on a benche along one of the numerous roads within campus, flanked by greenery on both sides. There aren't too many people here, and passers by don't bother him much, so he pulls his phone out of his pocket, and takes a look.
He zooms in on the text on the flyer, and as he reads it, his heartbeat becomes louder. Faster. It's apparently a matchmaking app, where you fill in details about yourself and answer some questions, and it uses your personality and its algorithm to find your ideal partner.
If there is one thing Taehyung doesn't like about his lack of a social life, it's the lack of someone special he can share everything with. Someone other than family. Share his happiness, his worries, his thoughts. Taehyung yearns for love.
He yearns for someone who would like him the way he is. Wouldn't think he's weird for always thinking different. Wouldn't judge him for his quirky choices. So, without giving it a second thought, Taehyung installs the app.
In terms of romantic love, he doesn't really have anything to lose. It's worth a try. What's the worst that could happen? He's just going to block the person if they're weird. The app keeps all users anonymous anyway.
So, before he can overthink and convince himself out of it, and before he runs late for class, he fills in his details and answers the questions. Taehyung pockets his phone, walks up to leave for class, and forgets about the app. If it's meant to happen, he'll find someone nice.
[ A/N : Hi, what do you think so far? Since it's a new AU, I need some input. ]
It's after a few classes when Taehyung is on his way to the cafeteria, that is phone chimes with a notification. And not just his phone. Everyone's phones chime at the same time. There's suddenly the chaotic, rushed sound of chatter all around him.
He knows what it must be, and when he fishes his phone out of his pocket and looks at the screen, he's proven right. There's a notification from the app. In a matter of a few hours, it had found everyone's matches and informed them. Taehyung feels nervous as he looks at it.
He clicks on the notification, and it takes him to the app. In there, he sees it in more detail. A hashtag followed by numbers and alphabets denotes his match, and there's an option to start a chat. Taehyung's heart pounds against his chest.
Taehyung bites on his lips, fingers hovering over the pink button but his mind confused as to what to say. He hasn't started a text conversation with anyone out of romantic interest before. Taehyung is confused, so he locks the screen, and puts the phone back in his pocket.
He saves it for later. He needs to come up with a good conversation starter before he can start a chat. For now, he's just going to grab some lunch and slip back into class for the next lecture.
But then, his phone chimes again. Taehyung is pretty sure it's the app reminding him about his match again. But when he takes it back out and looks at the screen, he's surprised. He clicks on it.
Taehyung is so used to his way of life, that he didn't even expect someone to approach him themselves. The app is anonymous, but still. He feels the sting of tears behind his eyes, but wipes them with his sleeves before they can fall out of his eyes.
He looks around to see who it could be. But it looks like #0901J is right. It's impossible to tell, because everyone is on their phones right now. And everyone seems to be engrossed in the app, looking for their ideal match.
Some call out the hashtags followed by the numbers and letter, and find their matches on the spot. Others quietly stick to their phones. Some look happy with their matches. Others, not so much. Taehyung wonders if his match would he disappointed if he knew it's him.
Then, he wonders if he'd be disappointed himself if he met his match. And all the thoughts overwhelm him. But then, he looks back at the screen, and decides to respond. This is the only way to find out, after all. And there must be some credibility to the app anyway, he thinks.
The blush paints Taehyung's cheeks easily. He immediately wonders if this is a popular person. If he talks like this, he must be. A player, maybe? Taehyung doesn't want someone like that. But he's way too intrigued to not continue the conversation.
He's also way too shy, blushing furiously at the words. He's scrambling to come up with the right words to say. But it seems like #0901J fills up for him, shooting him another text before he replies.
Taehyung giggles. Smooth talker, funny. Definitely not someone on his level of the social ladder, even if it isn't someone popular. He looks around, but sighs because it's still impossible to tell, so he just gives up on looking and replies to the text.
Taehyung feels a little emotional, because this person is willing to be patient and persistent for him. Whoever it may be, even if this doesn't work out, Taehyung just feels really grateful for this. He's almost forgotten what it feels like to talk to a friend, even.
Taehyung is caught off guard, because he does not want to blow his cover so soon. He wants to be mentally prepared for it, absolutely ready and at peace with the fact that he will be interacting with someone, with the risk of being judged for who he is.
His heart pounds in his chest at the thought though. Him out with someone, perhaps a handsome guy, doing the things he loves. It would be so romantic and he's so tempted. But he's scared. And then, there's two more messages.
This person is so confident, that Taehyung is now positive it must be someone towards the top of the social hierarchy. He feels nervous and uneasy because this person seems kind, and he doesn't want it to be a facade. He wants this to be true so bad.
And then, the mental gymnastics begin. Taehyung begins to list every fairly popular guy who could be around 21 years of age on campus. He doesn't bother with the absolute best ones, he's pretty sure they're already engaged with similar people. Several names come to his mind.
But he doesn't know any of them well enough to place who exactly talks like this. Maybe all of them, he thinks. Maybe this is how easily words flow out for them.
As soon as he hears that this person is in a different major, Taehyung thinks it's safe to tell him. Even most people in his own class don't know him. How would someone from a whole other discipline find out? And he doubts anyone knows his date of birth to crack the code.
But as soon as his match replies, Taehyung feels heat creep up his cheeks again. He's not used to having someone flirt with him, and this feels really good. It also makes him want to respond better, so he does.
[ A/N : Snack break, coming back in a few minutes! Till then, please tell me if this has you interested so far! ]
Taehyung, quite literally, melts. Is a little stunned when he realises that he's been smiling non stop for the past few minutes. The perks of wearing a mask – nobody can see him do that.
He also happens to look at the time on his phone and realises that he needs to leave for his next class. Lunch break is over. Reluctantly, he gets up and grabs his stuff. As he walks out, he takes one last look at the cafeteria, and types out a reply.
Taehyung is just a floor away from his next class, on the landing of the staircase, when he receives an answer. And what he reads almost makes him drop his phone because of how his fingers start to shake and how fast his heart starts to beat.
Taehyung freezes in place for a second because he does know a Jungkook. Everyone here knows a Jungkook. But there's no way Taehyung matched with the campus heartthrob. This has to be a sick joke. Maybe someone knows it's Taehyung behind the screen and is just messing with him.
And this time, Taehyung believes him because he's never seen this picture before. If this was an imposter using an old picture, Taehyung would know. Because Taehyung has spent hours looking at Jungkook's socials, heart yearning to know what it'd feel like to be loved by him.
[ A/N : So that's it for tonight! Definitely let me know your thoughts on the first update! I'll get back to your QRTs as soon as I can! Thank you for reading, I'll log off for the night now! ]
Hi! Will be updating this now! Minors do not interact or read and don't follow me! πŸ”žπŸ”ž The rest, I hope you like this update as well. Please keep me posted via the QRTs!
Taehyung feels his limbs freeze, holding him in place. He's got a class right now, but he can't even move. He doesn't know how to respond to the text. Has no idea what's happening.
He feels the sweat trickling down everywhere on his skin, and he regrets wearing a hoodie for the first time in a long time. He thinks he needs time to process this. He needs to think before he can say anything else, because none of this actually feels real.
So, he locks the screen of his phone, and shoves it into his pocket. He adjusts the strap of his backpack on his shoulder, and makes his way to class. He doesn't even touch his phone for the next few hours.
Jungkook is back in his dorm when his patience finally runs thin. He's waited six hours eight minutes and forty two seconds precisely, for his match to reply. He's usually not too bothered about stuff like this but right now, he feels fidgety and nervous.
He keeps checking his phone every few minutes. At first he told himself that the guy must be in class. Then, he thought he must be busy with other stuff. But now, it's been hours without a reply, and Jungkook is starting to sulk.
He wonders if he said something wrong. Nobody's kept him waiting for a message like this. Now that he thinks about it, he never even waits. Doesn't put anyone on that pedestal ever. And yet, with this mystery guy, Jungkook wants a reply so bad.
Maybe it's because he trusts the app and its algorithm. Personality based matches are usually accurate, because that is what determines compatibility in the long run. And Jungkook doesn't want to be blown off even before he gets to try.
Since he's popular, people think it must be easy for him to find dates. It's true. He's found many people who would love to go out with him, but he's never really met anyone who speaks to his soul. Most of them just like the idea of him. So, he's pinning all his hopes on #1230T.
And when his patience does run thin, Jungkook picks up his phone once again, and types. He sends a string of messages. Immediately after he does, he wonders if he sounds too needy, and winces.
Taehyung has been staring at the chat window for a few minutes when the texts appear. This time, he knows he has to answer. Ghosting Jungkook feels wrong, and the self-indulgent part of him wants this to go on.
Taehyung stops himself just in time before he can send the stupid, mortifying text. But he just had to type it out to let it out of his system. The image of Jeon Jungkook shirtless makes his head spin, and he lays back in bed, shutting his eyes and imagining.
Taehyung's eyes pop out of their sockets, and his heartbeat accelerates when he reads Jungkook's text. Did he really just imply that? Taehyung feels red in the face, and like he's going to explode. How is he even supposed to respond to this?
He's not used to people flirting with him. And Jeon Jungkook, out of all people. What are the odds? He tries to calm himself down. He can't give himself away, so he just decides to send a string of emojis.
[ Tae over text : πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Tae on the inside : [ Please answer in the quotes. ] P. S. You guys really seem to be enjoying the texts, and I hope I'm right.🀣🀣 ]
Taehyung launches the game on his computer, and the only sound in the room before it loads is the sound of his heart throbbing against his chest. Little does he know, Jungkook is feeling the exact same way.
He enters the competitive mode of the game, and selects his favorite offense character. Jungkook plays defence, and he thinks it would make for an interesting match. They start the game, then.
Taehyung uses the chat box to communicate, and to his surprise, Jungkook does the same. He wonders if he does it only because Taehyung refused to reveal his voice. The game gets intense – Jungkook seems just as competitive than him, if not more.
The usual emotions that would take over him during a game take over him now too, as he proceeds to almost beat Jungkook's character. But this time, there is also an exhilarating feeling buzzing in his heart. He's playing with Jungkook. It's surreal.
And he hardly realises that he accidentally turns on voice chatting. Forgets the headphones that he connected in case Jungkook would talk. And as he scores, he chuckles and lazily, carelessly speaks, "Ugh, what a great game."
And immediately, as he realises it from the way his voice resounds inside the gaming system, Taehyung freezes. The smile vanishes off his face. Panicking, he pulls his laptop shut and throws himself into his bed, wanting to evaporate into thin air.
When Taehyung wakes up in the morning, he half-expects a good morning text from Jungkook. When he doesn't find one, he tells himself that he's stupid for expecting so much so soon, and just goes about his day.
During lunch, he walks into the cafeteria very carefully, like Jungkook might just see him and know, but he's the one who keeps an eye. He sits down in his usual corner, and looks around.
Jungkook is sitting at one of the tables at the opposite end of the room, flanked by a group of people who listen to every word he has to say very intently. He's smiling himself, and making the others laugh too. And Taehyung almost loses himself in the sight.
And then, suddenly, Jungkook seems so distant. As distant as close he felt last night. And Taehyung finds himself immediately missing that feeling. He wonders if he should initiate the conversation this time, and thus begins a debate inside his head.
He's back at his dorm after classes when he finally caves. Tucked in bed, biting on his nails, he waits after he sends Jungkook the texts. It feels funny inside his stomach.
He feels anxious with every minute that passes without a reply. He switches the app to a study app to distract himself until Jungkook replies. But when the notification pops on his screen, he exits the app at the speed of light.
And honestly, Taehyung doesn't even need Jungkook to relieve his stress because he's smiling. Actually giggling like he hasn't in so long. Jungkook is making him smile, and he is already very grateful for it.
But regardless, Taehyung wants to see what Jungkook has up his sleeve. He also wants to indulge him because Jungkook seems excited about whatever it is. And so, he patiently waits until Jungkook messages him again and he's doubling up in laughter.
Taehyung punches his pillow and has to bite his fist because he just can't contain his crush with all the cuteness Jungkook is throwing at him. He's so funny that Taehyung's crush only grows rapidly from here. It's mad attractive, the way he talks.
Taehyung had always been attracted to his looks and the little things he'd seen him do or how he was with other people. But talking to him personally is a whole other ball game, and it isn't helping Taehyung's case at all.
[ A/N : I hope this update made you smile! And I hope you like the cliffhanger! Please let me know your thoughts about this update via the QRTs! Thank you for reading, good night! ]
Updating now! Hope you enjoy reading. Let's see how it goes! Minors DO NOT read or interact and DO NOT follow me. πŸ”žπŸ”ž
Taehyung's eyes go wide and his heartbeat skyrockets. He is shocked at the incoming video call screen, and the phone accidentally slips a little in his hand. His thumb accidentally brushes against the green accept button, as well.
The call gets accepted, and Taehyung's mind goes blank. Panicking, before the video screen can connect and without thinking anything, Taehyung presses his phone to his chest so that the front camera is blocked out.
"Hello?" Jungkook greets, confused by the all black screen he sees. "Umm." His voice is so sweet, so gentle. And with the way Taehyung's phone is held, Jungkook's voice vibrates through his chest. He feels butterflies inside.
"Jungkook." Taehyung says. "I'm– I wasn't prepared for this." There's a soft chuckle on the other end. "Of course, I'm sorry. I'm just glad I get to hear you talking again."
Taehyung lets out an inaudible gasp at how beautiful Jungkook sounds himself, and Taehyung kind of gets now what being attracted to a voice feels like. He's heard Jungkook talking before from afar but this – so close, crystal clear, and just for him. It feels different. Special.
From far away, Jungkook already sounded good to him. But right now, he sounds immaculate. Taehyung smiles shyly to himself. "I'm glad I can hear you talking too. You have a nice voice as well."
"Ouch, that one went straight to my heart." Jungkook says, and then there's the sound of his teeth sinking into an apple with a crunch. Taehyung waits for him to finish chewing. "I'm about to hang up now. I'm feeling shy."
"Already?" Jungkook asks, and he sounds like he's teasing. "Bye." Taehyung says, heart beating so fast that he's scared Jungkook might somehow hear it. "Alright. Bye." Jungkook says. "Let's go back to texting." Taehyung suggests. "I'm hanging up."
Taehyung puts his phone away then, smiling. This whole thing feels unreal. He feels so giddy and blushes so much, completely lost in his thoughts, that he doesn't hear his phone vibrating again. He smiles himself to sleep, completely missing the next two messages Jungkook sends.
When Taehyung wakes up and checks his phone, he freezes for a moment, feeling like his heart beating is the loudest sound in his room. He feels some kind of way, and hates how Jungkook has this effect on him so easily.
Taehyung feels his heart beating faster again. He doesn't know if it's the way Jungkook is or if it's the huge crush Taehyung's had on him for months, but he does want to reveal himself bit by bit. Jungkook makes it feel easy. Less scary, perhaps.
He sounds convincing and trustworthy. And in all the months he's known about Jungkook, he's only heard nice things about him. He does need to start somewhere.
Taehyung is walking into the cafeteria when Jungkook sends the picture, and he stops for a moment. He literally has to force himself to keep walking. The picture makes him blush so much, because Jungkook looks beyond perfect.
He hurriedly rushes in and takes his usual seat in one far corner of the cafeteria. Only when he's settled down, he looks up and tries to locate Jungkook. He's right there in his usual place as well, smiling at his phone. Taehyung has to bite back his own huge smile, then.
It doesn't help that Jungkook looks just as handsome and put together as ever, currently clad in another one of his numerous black tees and a hoodie. He looks beautiful, has all eyes on him, and Taehyung wonders just how such a person is willing to give him all of his attention.
Taehyung snorts, and looks up again. Jungkook is smirking as he tears his eyes away from his phone, and talks to a friend. Taehyung looks down and really thinks about what just crosses his mind. Before he can chicken out, he types it and presses send.
Taehyung immediately panics at first. He looks up at Jungkook, who's intently staring into his phone. Jungkook looks a bit nervous, but he's too far to tell for sure. Taehyung would be lying if he says he doesn't want to talk on the phone as well.
He checks his watch, and realises that there's still a few minutes before his class starts. He looks once more at Jungkook to check, and before him or anyone else can notice, Taehyung stands up, grabs his bag and walks out.
As soon as he's outside, he walks in the opposite direction of the lawn, and tries to think of a place where he can get some privacy as well. Not that anyone would care, or try to eavesdrop, but still.
Heart racing in his chest at the thought of talking to Jungkook on the phone again, Taehyung types out his reply. He looks around, and his only options are the empty lecture hall on the left, or the bathroom on his right.
He can run into random students in both of these places, so he just sighs. The last thing he wants is for someone to overhear and somehow figure out that he's talking to Jungkook, and then for things to go downhill.
Sure, he wouldn't mind if they had to eventually tell people. But Taehyung wants to be ready and wants it to progress to that level first. Realising that he's wasted a lot of time already just staring into his phone like his life depends on it, he just presses send.
As soon as Jungkook sends that text, Taehyung panics. Jungkook might be calling him any moment now, and fuck. He should have thought this through. As he walks into the bathroom finally, Taehyung wonders if he's even ready.
He starts to get really nervous and feels anxious because what if he freezes on the phone? Jungkook is such a smooth talker, so good with words and he is just...not. He doesn't want to make it awkward.
Jungkook is going to ring him up any second now, and he doesn't want him to have to carry the whole conversation. He holds his phone up, and wonders if Jungkook will think he's not all that interesting once they actually have a real time conversation on the phone.
And this time, he really freezes on the spot. Even before they can have a conversation, because Jungkook is right there on the other end of the bathroom, dialing a number and pressing his phone to his ears.

Taehyung thankfully still has the brains to quickly press the power button on his phone as hard as he can, and his phone turns off. But Jungkook has already detected someone's presence in the bathroom, and turns to his side to look at who it is.
Taehyung panics, and as soon as Jungkook looks at him, his legs seem to freeze in place. Jungkook frowns at his phone, and then looks back at Taehyung. "Uhh." He's unsure as to why this person is staring at him like that. "Can I... help you?"
Taehyung shakes his head, forcing himself back to his senses. He whispers. "I–" But then, he stops talking and just abruptly bolts out of the bathroom, leaving Jungkook very confused.
Jungkook's attention is soon drawn by the distinct sound of something dropping on the marble floor. He looks at where Taehyung had been standing just several seconds ago, and finds a tiny piece of metal bouncing and rolling around on the floor until it comes to a stop somewhere.
He walks closer immediately, and picks it up to inspect it closely. It's a bracelet charm. There's a tiny heart made of platinum, with a sapphire and a turquoise studded in. Jungkook thinks it must be expensive, so he rushes out to call the person who just dropped it.
"Excuse me!" Jungkook says in a louder than usual voice, and follows him. He hasn't gone too far. But strangely enough, the moment Jungkook calls him, he just runs faster.
Jungkook stops running, and just stands and stares. He could catch up in no time, but he chooses not to. He looks at the charm in his hand, and pulls out some sanitizer to disinfect his hands and the charm he picked up, and slips it into his pocket, shrugging.
"Hey man." Someone asks Jungkook. "What just happened?" Jungkook shrugs once more, and jokes. "I don't know, I didn't think I was that scary."
"Do you know him?" Jungkook asks, then. But the other person shakes his head. "I don't think so."
Meanwhile, some fifty metres away from the bathroom, Taehyung is trying to catch his breath as he comes to a stop, palm resting against the trunk of a tree as he tries to anchor himself. Panting, he sits down under the shade, and tries to breathe.
"Fucking hell." He barely manages to whisper, as he pulls out his phone again, and turns it on. There aren't many people outside at the moment, so he pulls his mask down a little and tries to get some fresh air as well.
He dials Jungkook's number as soon as he can, given that he has even lesser time left for class than he did before. The phone rings twice, before Jungkook answers. "Ah, finally I have the honor of getting to hear your voice again."
Taehyung immediately relaxes, and smiles. It's nice to hear Jungkook again. "Hi." "Ready for class?" Jungkook asks. Taehyung is still short of breath, but the thrill of talking to Jungkook is filling his chest with warmth. "Someone's keeping me busy." He says.
Jungkook chuckles in response. Taehyung feels like his heart expands in his chest at the sound. "He plans to keep you busy all the time." Jungkook says then. "Aren't you going to let him?"
Taehyung is full on blushing at this point, and has to pull his mask back up. He mindlessly twirls the blades of grass leaves with his fingers and bites back a smile as he talks to Jungkook. "Mhm." Jungkook speaks again, voice low. "I thought you were short on time. Talk to me."
"I would." Taehyung replies. "If you'd let me catch a break from blushing so hard." "I wish I could see you blushing because of me." Jungkook teases. "I would one hundred percent kiss it away if you'd let me."
Taehyung finds it hard to manage himself over text – talking to Jungkook live is just impossible for him. He's at a loss for words, and also all giddy inside. "I apologise in advance because I'm very awkward. Especially compared to you. So I don't have a fitting reply to that."
Jungkook chuckles again, and it is music to Taehyung's ears. His crush on Jungkook just keeps growing and growing and Jungkook isn't helping at all. "It's okay, I'm flirty enough for the both of us." Jungkook says. "We'll manage."
"Oh. Yeah, I can see that." Taehyung says, pressing his lips together. Something twists in his chest. "Must have taken a lot of practice with so many people." And this time, Jungkook laughs out loud. Heartily. "Don't worry. I'm using my skills exclusively on you at the moment."
Taehyung finds himself smiling again, but the smile drops immediately when he checks his watch. "Fuck, I'm late." "Fuck." Jungkook repeats. "Curse more often, please."
Taehyung has to bite his lip to stop himself from squealing. "You've got interesting kinks." "Oh, that's a conversation I would love to have." Jungkook sounds thrilled. "I've gotta go!" Taehyung chuckles. "Bye!" "Bye." Jungkook says, calm. "I'm going to call you again soon."
Taehyung says bye once more, and ends the call with a huge smile on his face. The smile only grows bigger when he sees that he's received another text from Jungkook.
Taehyung runs to class, and inconspicuously manages to get to a seat in some corner. He slips in, and opens his notebook up. He rests his chin on his palm, and tries to concentrate, but Jungkook never leaves his mind.
The professor enters just a few minutes later, and the lecture starts. He knows he needs to focus on diseases, their etiology, symptoms and treatment methods right now, but all he can think about is the symptoms he's showing for Jungkook. Perhaps, this has no treatment.
And as if they're somehow telepathically connected, Taehyung's phone vibrates. He just knows it's Jungkook. Nobody else would text him right now. Making sure he's not caught, Taehyung grabs the phone from the table and slips it under his desk to view the message.
Taehyung almost drops his phone at that, and checks once more to see if anyone's seen him using his phone in class. His heart is beating so fast after reading Jungkook's message. Nobody has ever asked him that before.
Of course, kissing his crush is a big yes. There's no doubt about it. And he hopes nothing goes wrong. For once in his life, Taehyung wants a conversation with someone to go right. He's really having the best time of his life talking to Jungkook. And so, he says what he feels.
Taehyung walks back to his dorm after class, but suddenly remembers that Jungkook now knows where he live. He looks around, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. In hindsight, maybe this wasn't the best idea to protect his identity, but he decides to trust Jungkook's words.
He's walking right in when the security guard stops him. "Are you Kim Taehyung?" He asks. Taehyung sighs. He's been here for quite long, walks in and out every day and the guard doesn't even know him yet. But to be honest, it's not his fault. "Yes." He says.
"Finally." The guard sounds relieved. "Well, someone dropped this box for you." Taehyung looks at the guard's hand, and when he sees it, his heart melts completely into a puddle. Everything inside of him feels mushy.
"Who?" Taehyung asks as he takes the box, knowing full well who it must be. "Jeon Jungkook." The guard answers. "Very handsome. Wears black most of the time. As tall as you–" "I know who he is." Taehyung says, cheeks flushed, and then bows. "Thank you." And then, he runs.
Taehyung rushes back into his dorm room and shuts the door at the speed of light. He prioritises opening this box before changing out of his clothes or even grabbing something to eat. He sits down on his bed, and at first, just marvels at the box.
It's a very light pink, marble pattern paper wrapping the box, with a shiny golden bow on top. Taehyung just can't take it. It's too overwhelming. He pulls out the card, and stares at the letters on it. 0901J β™‘ 1230T.
He carefully unwraps it, being gentle with the packaging. When he pulls it apart, his mouth falls open in awe. It's a transparent box decorated with an assortment of strawberries and chocolate.
Taehyung remembers the questions Jungkook asked him earlier, and is shocked at his speed. Regardless, his heart feels full, and he thinks he should return the gesture soon. Maybe, for now, he should text Jungkook.
But just as he's about to, his eyes fall on one part of the box, and his heart freezes in his chest. Lodged between the strawberries and chocolate pieces, is Taehyung's custom made sapphire and turquoise charm, and Taehyung just has one way of explaining what's just happened.
[ A/N : Thank you for reading. Hope you liked this update! Please let me know your thoughts. Good night! ]
Hello! Will be updating now! Minors DO NOT read or interact and DO NOT follow me. πŸ”žπŸ”ž The rest of you, happy reading!
Taehyung stares at the charm with wide eyes, whispering to himself. "Oh my God." Does Jungkook know? How else did he put his charm into the box? How did he even get it in the first place?
Taehyung frantically pulls his sleeve down, and checks his bracelet. He rotates his wrist and checks for the charms, and indeed, that exact one is missing. When did he even drop it? Was it in the bathroom?
Taehyung's heart beats loudly and he suddenly feels nervous. Even if he dropped it and Jungkook found it, how did he know it was Taehyung? Taehyung's head is spinning. It's just not possible.
And then, another possibility strikes his mind. What if Jungkook found it and just dropped it into the box accidentally? Or even worse, randomly gave it to Taehyung? Why would he do that? Why would he even keep the bracelet charm in the first place?
So many questions cloud Taehyung's mind, and he's about to pick up his phone and confront Jungkook, but he stops himself. What if Jungkook doesn't actually know? Taehyung would be exposing himself before he's ready in that case.
He just sighs, and leans back against the headboard. All the excitement from receiving the box has turned into worry now. Taehyung is still overthinking, when his phone dings. He knows it's Jungkook, and it makes his heart beat faster.
Taehyung puts a hand on his chest. He can't tell at all if Jungkook is asking about the package in a normal way or in a knowing way. He just lets out a sigh, and decides to act like nothing's wrong.
Taehyung stares at his phone, brows furrowed and fingers lodged between his lips. He's so confused. Jungkook seems clueless. Doesn't even mention the charm, or anything out of the ordinary about his gift, for that matter.
Taehyung immediately feels bad, and feels like he perhaps said the wrong thing. Jungkook seems to have no clue, so maybe he did drop it into the box accidentally. Taehyung is still not convinced, though, but for now, he replies.
[ A/N : On a scale of 1-10, how confused are you? ]
Taehyung sighs, exasperated, and locks his phone screen. He puts it aside, and crosses his arms. Does Jungkook really not know? Is he just messing with Taehyung? Taehyung has absolutely no clue, and it's frustrating him to no end.
He unlocks his phone again, and scrolls up inside the chat window with Jungkook. There's only one way to know, and Taehyung has to do it because otherwise, it's making him really restless and confused.
He really likes Jungkook, and has to reveal himself eventually anyway. So he sighs, goes over Jungkook's room number and memorizes it, and pockets his phone before putting on a mask again, and walking out.
It's a short walk from block A7 to block A21, but the anxiety seeping through Taehyung's skin makes it seem endless. He hasn't even properly decided what he's going to say or how he's going to introduce himself. He doesn't want to expose himself if Jungkook doesn't already know.
When he finally reaches block A21, he can see a couple of students walking in and out, and the sight is already making him a little uneasy. But he knows he has to go. He walks further until he's inside the building, and his heart is louder than the steps he takes.
Room no. 228. Taehyung supposes it's the 28th room on the second floor, so he directly walks into an elevator. There's another person, and he stares, probably thinking why Taehyung is covered from head to toe. But Taehyung is too worried about something else right now to care.
When the elevator stops on the second floor, he quickly walks out with his hands shoved into the pockets of his hoodie. There's students walking around in the corridor and it immediately makes him uncomfortable, but his eyes still search the number plates across the doors.
24... 25... 26... 27... 28. Taehyung's heart freezes in his chest, as do his legs in place. His limbs go cold, and refuse to function. His mind is blank – absolutely blank. All his previous courage disappears into thin air.
But then, there's the sound of a group of people approaching, and that would be really uncomfortable for him. So he rushes towards the door until he's standing in front of it, afraid to knock and face Jungkook.
Regardless, Taehyung shuts his eyes, and knocks. This is what he came here to do, after all. He puts his hands back in his pockets, and waits, his heart leaping into his mouth in anticipation of whatever is going to happen.
He thinks he's going to bite his own lips off from the way he's chewing on them out of anxiety, but all these thoughts go away in an instant, when he hears the sound. The shuffling of feet followed by the turning of a door knob.
And as the door swings open, Taehyung thinks he might as well yeet himself outside through one of the windows. Jungkook stands before him, confused, curious, and leaning against the doorframe in all his glory. "Umm, hi? Can I help you?"
Even though it's supposed to make him feel at ease, Taehyung feels his heart drop a little. Maybe because he's busy being in awe. He's seldom seen Jungkook from so close up, and he's flawless even from this distance.
But as Taehyung stands there speechless, completely forgetting whatever he came to say, Jungkook smiles and waves a hand. "Uh, hello?" Taehyung snaps back into reality, and forces himself to respond. "Hi. D-do we know each other?"
Jungkook frowns as his eyes search his face. "We met in the bathroom this morning. Didn't we?" Taehyung nods vehemently, hoping that's all.
"I have your charm. You dropped it!" Jungkook says. "I kept it in case we ran into each other again. Wait here." Jungkook turns around, and Taehyung feels more disappointed than he should. Trying to keep his voice sounding as different from usual as possible, he speaks. "No."
"Huh?" Jungkook turns around, doe eyes boring holes into Taehyung's face. "Keep it." Taehyung says. "Umm, sorry. For bothering you. I'll just–" He says and gestures towards the door, one foot already turning around.
But just as he turns, Jungkook catches hold of his wrist, and Taehyung hears him chuckle. "Sorry, I was just messing with you." Jungkook speaks behind him. "Come in, hyung."
[ A/N : That's not the cliffhanger, don't worry. 🀣 Anyway, back to updating. Sorry, just got really angry because of that person. ]
Taehyung's eyes widen in shock, before his brows come together and he gets angry. "You knew! How did you know?!" Jungkook shushes him with a finger on his lips, and their eyes meet, even through the thick curtain of Taehyung's bangs.
Jungkook locks the door behind him, and softly chuckles again. "Yes. Obviously." Taehyung just stares, but then his shoulders relax, and he smacks Jungkook on the bicep. "You're such a menace!"
It makes Jungkook laugh even harder. "Don't you want to know how I know?" Taehyung crosses his arms, all sorts of theories running through his head. "H-how?"
"Wouldn't you like to take a seat first?" Jungkook asks, and gently pulls Taehyung towards his bed. "Wow." Taehyung says, looking around, as he sits down on the soft mattress. "Your room is super clea– Whoa! This bedding is so soft!"
"You like it?" Jungkook asks, smiling. "Anyway. So. Umm." Taehyung looks up, the mattress forgotten. "Yes, so? Tell me." "It's surreal that you're here." "Jungkook." Taehyung's brow shoots up, and he can't help but chuckle. "Don't beat around the bush. You too."
"When I came here to study, I obviously didn't know most people here. Just one or two from high school, and that was it." Jungkook begins, and takes a seat next to Taehyung. "And yet, people warmed up to me easily. Came up to me and talked." Taehyung listens intently.
"After a point, I realised that everyone was just trying to be friends with me because I was somehow getting popular." Jungkook pauses. "Maybe because I look decent." Taehyung rolls his eyes. "Yeah right. Decent. That's the word."
Taehyung tries to maintain his composure, and he thinks he's doing well. But his fingers tremble where he has them tucked under his arms. He's sitting on Jeon Jungkook's bed for crying out loud, in his room, right opposite to him.
Jungkook chuckles. "So anyway, after a while, there wasn't a single face I hadn't seen at least once. Even if I didn't remember their name. Most tried to interact with me." "The whole campus?" Taehyung raises a brow. "That's a lot of people."
"No, of course not." Jungkook corrects him. "But most people from our side of the campus. All the engineering disciplines, the med school, architecture... These ones." Taehyung nods. "Oh, I see."
"Even people who were shy would try to meet my eye or just, you know. Talk to me." Jungkook says. "It was nice and all, but it felt like they wanted to be my friend for a very superficial reason. Not because they were interested in me as a person." "I understand." Taehyung nods.
"However, there was one person who caught my eye." Jungkook says, and darts his eyes to Taehyung. "One guy who always wore a hoodie, covered his face with a mask, and never talked to anyone." Taehyung gulps, and looks away. "W-why?"
Jungkook shrugs. "The only person who wasn't jumping on the bandwagon and trying to befriend the new cute guy. It might sound stupid, but..." "No, I get it." Taehyung says. "You wanted the only person who wasn't chasing you."
Jungkook shakes his head. "That's not entirely true. After I saw you for the first time, I was intrigued. I'd often look around just in case you were around somewhere again. I had so many questions." "Questions like?"
"Questions like..." Jungkook answers. "Why doesn't he talk to anyone? Why is he always by himself? Why does he always cover up?" Taehyung nods. "Of course, those are so obvious. That's stupid of me to ask–"
"And intrigued about things like you playing with puppies in one corner of the lawn. You feeding birds. Always being kind to the cafeteria or dorm staff." Jungkook continues. "You've always seemed so...nice. I wanted to be your friend." Taehyung looks down, blushing.
"All of this always made me want to talk to you. And I would have." Jungkook says. "But wasn't sure you'd be comfortable. You didn't seem to like people. Why would you want a random guy in your space, trying to befriend you?" Taehyung just nods. "Thanks for being considerate."
"So." Jungkook says. "I'm really glad we matched. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. That part was purely a coincidence." Taehyung smiles at first, but then frowns. "Wait, but... How did you know it was me?"
"Remember the agreement we had to check when we created an account on the app?" Jungkook asks. Taehyung shakes his head. "I didn't read it. Can our match see our details?" Jungkook smiles. "We also took pictures to verify, remember?" "But it said anonymous." Taehyung whines.
"Your match can't see your details or your picture." Jungkook says. Taehyung looks on, super confused. "But." Jungkook continues, his beautiful smile growing. "The agreement clearly stated that the developer of the app can."
[ A/N : Hope you enjoyed reading! Please let me know your thoughts. Good night. Thank you for reading! ]
Hello, I will be updating this now! As always, minors DO NOT read or interact and DO NOT follow me. πŸ”žπŸ”ž Everyone else, I hope you like this update!
Taehyung's eyes widen a little at first, and then all the way two seconds later when it sinks in. His hand flies to cover his mouth over his mask. "You?!" Taehyung asks, shocked. "You're the devel–dev– you developed the app?!"
Jungkook smiles, eyes crinkling at their corners. "Is that so hard to believe?" "And you..." Taehyung's heart is beating very fast, and it's like he's talking to himself. "You are a computer science engineering major."
Jungkook nods. "And you made this whole app?" Taehyung asks. "All by yourself?" Jungkook shrugs. "Yeah! I mean..." He chuckles. "It wasn't that hard."
Taehyung gulps. "Why did you?" "It was just a project." Jungkook smiles. "For your course?" Jungkook shakes his head. "No, not for my course. But I was done with all my assignments for this semester and wanted to try making something. Looks like my app was pretty successful."
"Uh huh." Taehyung huffs out a laugh. "That's why you were able to be anonymous." Jungkook nods. "And... Us matching on the app. Was that your doing too?" Jungkook chuckles. "Wouldn't that be romantic?"
Taehyung looks away, blushing. "Th-that would be cheating." "Relax, I didn't make us match. The algorithm did. I didn't plan on it." Jungkook chuckles, and leans forward to get a better look at Taehyung. "I was shocked too, but in a good way. Looks like we're fated, hyung."
Taehyung looks around Jungkook's room, heart racing in his chest. He tries his best to avoid Jungkook's gaze because he might just combust if he holds eye contact for too long. "Hyung, I'm definitely more interesting than the walls." Jungkook says, his voice low. "Look at me."
Taehyung does turn his head, but doesn't look up into his eyes. "I can't. You're making me nervous." "What did I do?" Jungkook whines, lips curling into a pout. "I'm only trying to tell you how much I like you."
Taehyung looks at him then, for a brief moment, and then asks. "Really?" Jungkook sighs. "Yes. Really. Do you think I kept observing and admiring you from afar just so I could play a prank on you?" Taehyung sighs. "Sorry." He says. "That's not what I meant."
Jungkook waves it off. "No worries. And... Why do you even doubt it?" "Because everyone wants you." Taehyung finally says. "And you want me... How? Why?" "I mean." Jungkook chuckles again. "Why not?" "Because..." Taehyung begins, but then, just sighs. "I don't know."
"You can tell me." Taehyung bites on his lower lip, eyes on his hands which are currently fiddling with the hem of his hoodie. "I don't know, Jungkook. I just– I have never experienced this before and never expected it. It's just too overwhelming and I don't know how to act."
Jungkook sighs at that, and stands up all of a sudden. Taehyung looks at him from the corner of his eye, wondering what's wrong. "Stand up, please." Jungkook requests, and it makes Taehyung even more nervous. But, he complies and stands up, body facing Jungkook.
Jungkook holds his palms out, and gestures towards Taehyung's hands. "Give me your hands." Taehyung, unsure, reaches out. Jungkook gently holds his hands, and as soon as their palms touch, Taehyung feels electricity shoot through his veins.
Jungkook, instead of looking at Taehyung, keeps his eyes fixed on Taehyung's hands. "W-what?" Jungkook looks up at that. "Sorry." He smiles. "Your hands are even prettier up front. I was just admiring them."
Taehyung rolls his eyes. "You're so extra." "I wonder what your face looks like." Jungkook says, something akin to longing in his eyes. "If just your hands and your voice are so beautiful."
Taehyung nervously chuckles. "Could have made a bare face ID mandate on your app." "I wish I had." Jungkook laughs. "But I just wanted any photo which could be stored as a part of people's data. Damn, I wish I said no masks."
"Is this what you made me stand up for?" Taehyung asks, confused. "Oh, no no. Sorry, I got distracted." Jungkook says, and then clears his throat. "If you would allow me to, can I hug you for a minute?"
Taehyung is surprised at that, and it makes his heart swoosh around in his chest all at once. For obvious reasons, he doesn't want to say no. But he wonders if he'd be able to survive it. Yet, wishing to know what it would feel like, he nods. "Okay, I guess."
Jungkook smiles, eyes kind, and Taehyung watches his face getting closer and closer. Until, his face disappears next to his own, and he feels the warmth of Jungkook's body, and the cushion of his chest engulf him all at once. Taehyung feels like he's going to melt.
He feels Jungkook's arms slowly drape around his waist, then, and Taehyung finds that his own automatically fly up around Jungkook's shoulders. Taehyung gives in, and allows himself to rest his chin on Jungkook's shoulder when he feels Jungkook do the same to him.
"I need you to believe in yourself and your abilities and give yourself some credit." Jungkook's sweet voice sounds next to Taehyung's ears. "From whatever I've gathered, I think you're a wonderful person. And I want you to always keep that in mind."
Taehyung lets out a breath he doesn't know he's been holding. Jungkook's words hit him right in the heart, and he can't explain what he's feeling right now. He hasn't heard these words in a while, since he's been away from his family. He nods weakly. "Okay."
"Why do you even doubt yourself?" Jungkook asks him. "You got into medicine, too. It's one of the hardest disciplines to get into at our university. You're so academically gifted as well. That's so attractive." "Is it?" Taehyung chuckles, a tear rolling down his cheek.
"Of course!" Jungkook reassures him, and Taehyung feels his hands rubbing circles on his back now. "I like you so much. Even more since we started talking. And I hope I can try and make you like me back." Taehyung's eyes go wide and face goes red at that. "Well, about that."
After all of Jungkook's words and how good they felt to hear, Taehyung thinks Jungkook deserves to know. Jungkook pulls back, and Taehyung immediately misses the warmth. "About what?" He asks, eyes big and curious, and his brows drawn close together.
"Umm, well I..." Taehyung begins, feeling like his chest is going to close up if he admits his crush. "About liking you back, I... Since..." "Do you like me too?" Jungkook asks, brows relaxing. "By any chance?"
Taehyung sighs. "I have. For a while now." Jungkook's eyes go comically wide. "You what?!" "It's not a big deal..." Taehyung says, panicking already. "It is a big deal to me!" Jungkook says, hands holding Taehyung's again on instinct.
"Haha okay we–" Taehyung begins, but is cut off when he feels Jungkook pull him into another hug. "Hyung, I like you so, so, so much." He speaks into the hug. "And you like me back. This is literally like a fairytale. What did I tell you about us being fated?"
Jungkook pulls back again, and looks into Taehyung's eyes. "Okay, can you please at least remove your bangs from in front of your eyes? They're really bothering me. Please. That's all I'm going to ask. I want to see your eyes properly for once." Taehyung sighs. "Fine. I'll–"
"No, I'll do it!" Jungkook cuts him off, and before Taehyung can say anything, Jungkook is already using his fingers to brush Taehyung's hair away from his forehead. The touch relaxes Taehyung, and he doesn't even know when his eyes shut off in response.
When Jungkook is done, Taehyung opens his eyes only to see Jungkook already staring right into his sould. "Well, fuck." Jungkook says, stepping closer, hands coming down to gently cup Taehyung's face now. "Fiercer and more beautiful than I can even dream of."
"Stop..." Taehyung says, not knowing what else to say or how to stop himself from evaporating into thin air. But Jungkook's gaze shifts lower towards his mouth, and he sighs. "I know I said that's all I was going to ask, but I'm afraid I don't want to stop."
[ A/N : Are you smiling while reading this? Or are you struggling while reading this? ]
Taehyung feels his heartbeat skyrocket and he gently swats Jungkook's hand away. "Hey! You said you'd only ask to see my eyes." Jungkook pouts. "Yeah but they're so beautiful and you're so close to me right now and I just..." He breathes out. "Please let me see your face."
Taehyung steps back, and sits down on the bed. "But I need to be mentally prepared first." "Okay, okay. Sorry." Jungkook sighs, and sits down next to him. "Whenever you're ready." Taehyung nods. "Thanks." Thirty seconds pass, and Jungkook speaks again. "Okay, how about now?"
Taehyung can't help but snort at that. "Wow, look at you." "No." Jungkook says, a smile tugging at his lips. "Let's look at you instead."
"You're adamant, aren't you?" Taehyung frowns. "I'm going to go back to my dorm." Jungkook immediately scoots closer, and gently curls his fingers around Taehyung's wrist again. "No no, I'm sorry, please stay. Let's hang out a little more."
But Taehyung's heart is far too soft already for the man next to him, and it's only a matter of seconds before he says it. "Whatever, you can see my face." Taehyung says, feigning disinterest. "But don't rush me. Give me a few minutes."
Jungkook's smile upon hearing that is blinding, and Taehyung stares for a second, losing his heart to Jungkook again. "I promise you won't regret it." Jungkook says. "And nobody has to know for as long as you want."
Just then, there's a knock on the door and Taehyung panics. "Oh no, who's out there? Should I hide in–" "Relax." Jungkook says, completely calm. "Sit right where you are. I'll handle it. If you don't want anyone in here, I'll make sure they don't come in."
Taehyung's heart is still beating pretty fast, and he hears Jungkook walk away and open the door. Jungkook speaks softly, but Taehyung does manage to hear one particular few sentence. "No, come back later, I'm with my uhhh boyfriend right now."
Taehyung's ears perk up, and his eyes almost pop out of their sockets. A few seconds later, he can hear Jungkook locking the door and walking back to the bed. He sits down opposite to Taehyung, and that's when Taehyung asks him. "So. Boyfriend?"
Jungkook chuckles, throwing his head back. "I mean, I had to tell him something." "And you chose boyfriend." Taehyung teases, much more relaxed now in front of Jungkook. "Isn't he going to want to see who this boyfriend is?" "He doesn't get to until my boyfriend says so."
"Again!" Taehyung says, chuckling himself this time. Jungkook sighs. "I mean." Jungkook says. "I'm not opposed to the idea. You know that I'm eventually going to ask you out, right?"
Taehyung blushes furiously, looking away. "I did not know this is how my day would play out today." "Wait!" Jungkook exclaims then. "You're distracting me. Come on, let me take off your mask now. Please, hyung?"
Taehyung puts a hand on his chest, trying to calm himself down and prepare himself for what's coming. "Okay. Fine." He says, and turns towards Jungkook. "Take my mask off... If you want to."
Jungkook immediately leans forward, face extremely close and it makes Taehyung's heart flip in his chest. Jungkook slowly cups Taehyung's face, looks into his eyes, and asks in a low, gentle voice. "You're sure, right?"
Taehyung nods. "Jungkook, my heart is beating so fast right now." Jungkook smiles at that, and his fingers slowly travel towards Taehyung's ears, hooking into the straps of his mask. "Mine too, hyung."
And then, he pulls on one of the straps, and the mask comes swivelling down on one side to reveal the lower half of Taehyung's face. Jungkook audibly gasps, unable to take his eyes off, and Taehyung can feel his breath on his own lips now.
Without speaking a single word, Jungkook takes the other strap off, and throws the mask away to the side. His gaze shuttles between Taehyung's lips and his eyes constantly, and Taehyung suddenly prefers talkative Jungkook because the silence is making his heart pound.
Taehyung gulps, and licks his lips which are going dry from nervousness and the air conditioning in Jungkook's room. "Say something. Please." "You hid this face." Jungkook whispers, smile gone, and his tone serious. "For what?"
Taehyung is nervous and tongue-tied, unable to answer. He just stares as Jungkook's eyes darken and search his face. "You." Jungkook says, eyes traveling down to his lips again, and Taehyung shivers when Jungkook speaks. "I don't think I've ever met someone as stunning as you."
Taehyung feels like his heart slips back into place at that, and he lets his shoulders relax. "Fuck, you could have just said you like my face without making me nervous, you brat." But Jungkook is still serious. "You know what I said about asking you out? I'm doing it now."
"What?" "Let's go out on a date." Jungkook says. "Somewhere far away like I told you over text. Just the two of us." Taehyung gulps. "Okay." Jungkook smiles finally, and Taehyung can't help but say it. "I know you already know and everyone says it but you're stunning, too."
"I already told you." Jungkook gently scolds him. "That it's a lot more special when you say it." Taehyung smiles at that, feeling content. "I want to show you something, hyung." Jungkook says, then. "Oh. What?" Taehyung asks him.
"Hold on." Jungkook says, as he grabs his phone from the bed. Taehyung looks on, curious. Until Jungkook is pulling something up on his phone, and turning it around to show him. "This part of our conversation."
[ A/N : That's it for tonight, and I hope your cheeks hurt from smiling! Thank you so much for reading. Please let me know what you thought of this update. Good night! ]
Hello, I will be updating now! Minors, DO NOT read or interact and DO NOT follow me. πŸ”žπŸ”ž The rest of you, hope you like today's update! Happy reading!
Taehyung looks at the screen, and panic builds in his chest immediately. A kiss. Jungkook is asking for a kiss. Jeon Jungkook, his crush, who likes him back, is asking him for a kiss. Taehyung's brain stops functioning for a moment.
And as if that is not enough, Taehyung watches two messages pop on his notification bar in quick succession. 'Bro since when do you have a boyfriend?!' 'YOU HAVE A BF????' Taehyung feels his heartbeat skyrocket.
He immediately side eyes the mask that Jungkook threw aside, and grabs it. He stands up, and takes a few steps backwards. "J-Jungkook. I'm not– I'm not ready. For..." His voice trails off, lips drying.
Jungkook's face falls. "Sorry, I didn't mean to–" "And I accidentally saw some of your texts." Taehyung speaks very fast. "Sorry." Jungkook looks down at his phone, and Taehyung can see him scrolling through a whole list of messages. "Oh. Yeah. They're asking about you."
"So many of them? Already?" Taehyung asks, struggling to just keep standing there without losing his composure. "And that doesn't scare you?" Jungkook keeps his phone aside, leans back on his palms, and shrugs. "No. Whenever you're ready, I'd be proud to show you off."
The words tug the right strings of Taehyung's heart, and he blushes, but he thinks that very heart is too fragile for this. He shakes his head. "I can't. I... I need time." Jungkook nods in understanding, but the smile is gone. "Of course. Whatever you're comfortable with."
Taehyung begins to put his mask back on, as Jungkook watches him with those huge eyes. He pulls his hood back on, too. "I should probably go." And this time, the hurt is pretty evident in Jungkook's eyes. "Oh... Can I walk you to your dorm, at least?"
"N-no." Taehyung says, brain short circuiting awfully. "I'll just– I'll go." And before Jungkook can say anything else, Taehyung runs to the door and then through it, on his way out. Jungkook stands there, eyes wide, and a little sad because he wanted to hang out some more.
And he's also a little taken aback at how Taehyung just stormed out of the room, without even as much as a goodbye. It hurts a little. But maybe Taehyung was feeling things he can't comprehend, so Jungkook tries to see it through his point of view, and lets it go.
Taehyung walks as fast as he can. Through the corridor, down the stairs, and out of the block. He hurries before anyone can see him. He walks as fast as his legs carry him, and by the time he approaches his dorm building, he's already out of breath.
He runs now, regardless, and dashes into the elevator. He presses the button to his floor and leans against the elevator wall, trying to breathe. When the door opens, he walks right out, and storms into his room.
He shuts the door, locks it, and drops to the floor with his back to the door. Taehyung takes the mask off and throws it aside, taking in as much air as he can. And as he sits there, and is finally beginning to be able to catch his breath, the adrenaline comes rushing down.
And then, as his brain starts to process everything, Taehyung realises how rudely he left. He remembers the way Jungkook looked at him. The hurt in his eyes. "Fuck." Taehyung slaps his palm to his forehead. "I didn't even say bye."
As he remembers how he left, the embarrassment comes crashing down on him like a crumbling pile of building blocks. "No, fuck." He stands up, and runs a hand through his hair, pushing his hood back. "What is he going to think? I totally blew it."
Taehyung feels awful as he sits down on the bed, and the first thing his eyes fall on is the box. The box that Jungkook sent for him. Taehyung sighs once more. And as he thinks about running away, he remembers how he ran from Jungkook in the bathroom, as well.
And Taehyung realises just how much he runs. He just keeps running. From everything. Sometimes, even from himself. And it's not always a good thing. He pulls his phone out of his pocket, and he knows just what's needed to be done at this moment.
Taehyung can't help but chuckle, and he finally feels himself relax. His heart isn't throbbing loudly against his chest anymore, and Taehyung feels grateful that Jungkook understands. And Jungkook being so nice and understand only makes him feel worse about how he acted.
Taehyung snorts at that, all the previous tension dissipating out of his body. Jungkook is endearing. And Taehyung – he wants to stop running. He can't stop it all at once, but he knows that he can start somewhere.
What color?
Taehyung wakes up the next morning, rubbing his eyes before he remembers. The date. Taehyung feels heat creep up his cheeks. He grabs his phone to text Jungkook, but sees that there's already some texts from him.
Taehyung looks at the texts, and lets it sink in that they're going out on a date. Kim Taehyung is going out on a date with Jeon Jungkook. He's dreamt of this a thousand times, never knowing that it would actually come true. He buries his face into his pillow, and screams.
It's exactly 10 am. Taehyung stands outside the dorm gates, black hoodie over his prettier black outfit underneath. He checks his watch, and tells himself to calm down because his stomach is doing flips in anticipation.
He put in a lot of effort to get ready – he hasn't done this in so long. And he's not going to lie. He feels great. Pretty. Confident. He wonders if Jungkook will think so too.
His train of thoughts is broken when a motorbike comes and stops in front of him. He's shocked, because he didn't even see it coming. Jungkook takes off his helmet, and with the leather jacket and leather gloves and his now messy hair, Taehyung has to bite on his lip very hard.
He's seen Jungkook so many times now, but still fails to be in awe of how effortlessly handsome he is. "What?" Jungkook smiles, bending to pull out another helmet and hand it over to Taehyung. "Going to take that hoodie off or...?"
It's like Taehyung snaps back into reality. "Oh. Yeah, sorry. Don't worry, this hoodie isn't my date outfit. Haha. Can we keep it somewhere?" But as he reveals what he's wearing underneath, Jungkook's eyes go wide, and he doesn't hide how he feels. "Holy shit."
Taehyung's face colors red immediately, and he looks down at his black shirt. There's ruffles along the neckline, and he's tucked it into his pants so it accentuates his waist. He runs a finger along the ruffles, and looks back up at Jungkook. "What? Does it look good?"
Jungkook doesn't say a word in response. He looks into Taehyung's eyes, and stares, biting back a small smile. "What?" Taehyung asks. Jungkook just keeps smiling, and this time, Taehyung chuckles and demands. "What is it?!" "Are you sure you don't want me to kiss you yet?"
Taehyung just gently smacks him on the shoulder, biting back a smile of his own. He walks around the bike to climb behind Jungkook, and as soon as he settles, he slides downwards and his front completely presses up against Jungkook's back. Taehyung's eyes go wide.
"Oh no." He begins. "I didn't do it on purpose–" "Fuck, wow." Jungkook exclaims, looking over his shoulder. "If possible, come even closer."
Taehyung doesn't even answer because he's blushing furiously. He just looks around the bike. "Is there nothing to hold?" "There is." Jungkook says, putting on his helmet. "My waist, if you'd like."
"Stop making me blush every chance you get." Taehyung whines, voice small. Jungkook chuckles. "I'm not kidding. You have to hold on tight to be safe. Come on." And then, he grabs Taehyung's arms behind him and wraps them around his waist. "Now we're ready." He says.
Taehyung does as asked, and allows himself to relax. He snuggles up to Jungkook, and leans his face against his back. "Okay." "Okay." Jungkook says, before he starts the bike.
It takes them around fifteen minutes to get to the park Taehyung suggested, but Taehyung feels like time passed way too fast. Maybe because he was enjoying it so, so much. Pressed up against Jungkook's back like that, on his way to a date with him – Is it all a dream?!
Every few seconds, he would shift his gaze from the road to Jungkook's shoulder, or the way his hands expertly held the hand clutch. How he breathed against Taehyung's body, or the way their bodies slotted together perfectly. It was like magic. Everything seems like magic.
After Jungkook parks his bike, and before they enter the park, he subtly holds out his hand. And if Taehyung's heart skips a beat just at that gesture, it's not his fault. Jungkook is just impeccable in the way he carries himself around Taehyung. Or anyone, for that matter.
He shyly takes Jungkook's hand, and isn't prepared when Jungkook starts to intertwine their fingers together. He stares at their joined hands, and then back up at Jungkook. "We're already being obnoxious, aren't we?"
When they walk into a park, Taehyung is overjoyed to notice that they have picnic mats and baskets for rent. They take some stuff, and set everything up in one spot under a tree. And then, they sit down. Jungkook crosses his legs, and leans forward, smiling. "So. Taehyung-ssi."
"Jungkook-ssi." Taehyung nods, eyes not meeting Jungkook's. He awkwardly fiddles with some of the food they bought. "Do you want to eat this pastry?" "No." Jungkook keeps staring at him, the small smile always present on his face. "That's not what I want to eat."
Taehyung feels his face flush, and he makes it his mission to look at anywhere but at Jungkook. But Jungkook cups his face, and turns it towards himself. He pouts. "It's our date. You're supposed to look at me. Don't be shy."
Taehyung brings his hand to rest over Jungkook's, and finally manages to look him in the eye. "You make me feel like I'm going to combust." Jungkook smiles. "Why?" "Because you're beautiful." Taehyung says. "And I'm weak for you. And you're so smooth and good at everything–"
"Shh." Jungkook says, searching Taehyung's eyes. "You look stunning today." Taehyung bites on his lips, but decides to tease Jungkook this time. "Today?" Jungkook chuckles. "Every day. All the time. You're gorgeous. Stop making me want to kiss you right now."
[ A/N : There's still some more to go and I should be sleeping already but I'm going to update more. Don't worry. Maybe another half an hour. 😭 Tell me how you like it so far! πŸ₯Ί ]
This time, Taehyung doesn't look away. He smiles in response. "You make me feel very special, just so you know." "You are!" Jungkook talks in pout, like he's scolding Taehyung, asking him to treat it like a fact. "You're so special. Especially to me."
"Are we going to do this for the entire duration of this date?" Taehyung teases. "Oh I could do it for the rest of eternity if you'd let me, maybe." Jungkook winks, and Taehyung swats his hand away.
Taehyung is about to suggest something, but Jungkook's phone starts to ring. "Oh, it's eomma." Jungkook says. "I need to take this." Taehyung nods, and watches Jungkook stand up and take the call. When he starts talking, Taehyung's eyes fall somewhere else.
A few meters across from them, Taehyung spots two women sitting on a picnic mat just like them. But that's not what catches his attention. One of them climbs onto the other's lap, and hugs her, pressing a sweet kiss to her lips. Taehyung tears his eyes away, cheeks burning.
He feels like he shouldn't have seen that, although it's a public park. While Jungkook is still on the phone with his mother, Taehyung has the time to think. It's so beautiful, how they express their feelings through kisses. He can't help but imagine himself and Jungkook–
"Sorry!" Jungkook sits back down. "She was just checking up on me. What are you thinking?" Taehyung shakes his head vehemently. "N-nothing. Do you want to talk about about your favorite things to me?"
And then, they talk. All the things people typically discuss on a first date, except, they already know and are comfortable with each other. The weather is great, and Jungkook is great. Taehyung occasionally lets himself stare at Jungkook's lips, too.
The image of the two women kissing, it seems like, is now suddenly engraved into his mind. He can't help but wonder if it's a sign. Even with their never ending conversations, Taehyung can't help but stop in between to think about him and Jungkook sharing a kiss, too.
The afternoon starts to draw to a close, and they start to walk back outside, holding hands. Taehyung doesn't want the date to end. When they're back near Jungkook's bike, he asks Taehyung. "Can I kiss you on the cheek, at least? Sorry, I'm unable to not think about it."
Taehyung bites his lips, because he's been thinking about much more for the past few hours. "Do you..." He begins, nervous. "Want to visit my dorm room tonight?" "Yes." Jungkook immediately answers. "Even if all I get to do is sit and watch you exist." "Okay." Taehyung smiles.
And so, they get back on the road, anticipation bubbling in both of their chests. The date isn't over yet, technically. Taehyung holds on to Jungkook one more time, heart pounding in his chest, when he feels a drop of rain hit his cheek.
"We're getting drenched." Jungkook laughs in front of him. Taehyung pouts, holding on tighter. "Nooo, what if we both get sick?" Jungkook scoffs. "What are you studying medicine for?" He asks.
And in the middle of their banter, the drizzle turns into a full on downpour. Taehyung's hold on Jungkook's tightens, and he immediately says over the sound of the bike and now, the rain. "Just two more minutes, hyung!"
Soon enough, Jungkook is breezing through the dorm gates. And right now, Taehyung is thankful that it's raining because the grounds are empty. Jungkook parks by Taehyung's dorm building and they both rush in quickly.
Taehyung shivers when they're in the elevator, and Jungkook stares at him. "I can hold you if you're cold." Taehyung is about to respond, but the door opens, so he grabs Jungkook by the wrist and makes a run for his room.
It's when they're both safely inside and Taehyung locks the door, that he relaxes. Jungkook is already looking around the room. "Whoa, this is–" But Taehyung grabs a towel and throws it, and it lands on Jungkook's head. "Change out of that first." Taehyung says.
Jungkook wordlessly walks towards the bathroom, and Taehyung hears the door shut. He hears the sound of the shower running a minute later. He's about to tell Jungkook to wear some of his dry clothes a while later, when suddenly, Jungkook steps out shirtless.
"Can I have something to wear?" He asks. Taehyung turns his face away at the speed of light, but the visual he just saw is imprinted into his mind. "Uhh, my clothes are on–" "You can look." Jungkook says, then. "In fact, I'd prefer if you did."
Taehyung gulps, turning back around and trying not to evaporate. Jungkook has well defined abs. His pecs look very tempting. And he has a V-line sinking into the towel wrapped around his waist. This... This is not good for Taehyung's sanity.
"My shirts are in that drawer." Taehyung points at it. "Take whichever you like." Jungkook nods, and walks around it to dig into the clothes. Taehyung gets a view of Jungkook's back and shoulders now, and the dimples on his waist. He feels light-headed.
Taehyung just grabs another towel and rushes past Jungkook into the bathroom. "I'm going to shower so you can wait on the bed bye." He says it so fast, that before Jungkook can even process it, he's inside the bathroom.
He takes his own sweet time, but knows that he eventually has to step out. Jungkook is sitting on his bed, looking beautiful, and Taehyung's heart has been out of control for a few hours now. He steps out, and puts aside his towel.
He watches Jungkook at first – he's doing something on his phone, sitting on one edge of Taehyung's bed, and it melts Taehyung's heart. "You can sit comfortably." Taehyung says, and smiles. Jungkook looks back at him, and gives him a once over, before smirking.
He does move to the center of the bed soon, though. "Are you done? Can we hang out now?" "Yeah." Taehyung says, watching Jungkook. The muscular body under the baggy shirt, the radiant face, and the water dripping from his hair. Taehyung wants him so bad.
He can't stop thinking about what he saw, and bites his lips as his brain keeps reminding him of the fact that it's just him and Jungkook in the room now. Taehyung takes in a deep breath. "I've... I've never kissed anyone before."
Jungkook looks up, not expecting it. "Oh. Is that also why you were not ready?" Taehyung comes and sits on the edge of the bed, and nods. "I understand." Jungkook smiles. Taehyung nods again, debating it in his mind.
Jungkook looks at his phone again. "Hyung, do you want to eat something? I can order it if you'd like." But Taehyung is inching closer to him, little by little, heart pounding in his chest.
He feels nervous, but he keeps going, moving in Jungkook's direction. Closer to him. He can't help himself anymore. "We can try some other cuisine–" Jungkook says, still not looking. "Anything you'd like."
His words are cut off when Taehyung slowly climbs into his lap, and wraps his arms around Jungkook's shoulders gently. Jungkook stares, surprised, their faces less than an inch apart. "Jungkook." Taehyung looks into his eyes, blushing furiously. "Can you teach me how to kiss?"
[ A/N : Okay this got ridiculously long. I've been updating for four hours, and I must go to bed now! I hope you enjoyed reading today's update! Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you for reading. Good night, everyone! ]
Hi, I will be updating now! Minors DO NOT read or interact and DO NOT follow me. πŸ”ž The rest of you, happy reading! ( If during the update there's any 18+ implication in any part, please be careful with QRTing those parts if you have minors following you! )
Jungkook lets out a sigh, which lands as warm breath on Taehyung's lips. "Yeah? As in, show you how to kiss?" Taehyung nods. "Yeah. Only if you want to, I mean."
And then, when Jungkook doesn't immediately say anything, Taehyung panics. "Y-you don't have to, if you're–" He doesn't speak anymore after that, because Jungkook's lips are immediately on his then, face cupped in his gentle hands.
Taehyung freezes, eyes wide open for a split second, before they slowly shut, and he responds to the kiss. Jungkook gently parts his own lips against Taehyung's, and whispers. "Just follow my lead, okay?"
Taehyung nods, unable to form words. And when Jungkook tries to clasp his lips around Taehyung's lower, Taehyung tries to return the gesture. It's not bad. It's great. In fact, it makes Taehyung feel like his body is turning into jelly.
Jungkook's hands tighten on the small of his waist, pulling him closer. And up where their lips meet, Jungkook slips in his tongue, asking for entrance. Taehyung near about freezes, before allowing it. He doesn't know much about kissing, but he thinks Jungkook is good at it.
"I want you to have fun with it." Jungkook whispers between kisses again. "Do not stress. It's just me." "Exactly." Taehyung whispers back, heart a mess inside his chest, pulling back a little to look into Jungkook's eyes. "It's you."
Jungkook's lips stretch in a languid smile. "Shh, come back here. I'm in the middle of the best kiss of my life, don't interrupt." Taehyung shuts his eyes, and presses his forehead to Jungkook's. "The things you say..."
And then, he looks back up at Jungkook. "I'm horrible at this, isn't it? I'm so nervous, I must be ruining it for you too." Jungkook frowns. "No, you aren't. I'm not kidding, your lips top anything I've ever tasted in my life. Best kiss. Eleven on ten."
"Well, then." Taehyung says, hands reaching up behind Jungkook's ears, with his thumbs in front of them. "You asked for it." And this time, it's Taehyung who presses his lips against Jungkook's. He gently pulls Jungkook's face closer, and goes for it.
He nearly moans into Jungkook's mouth when Jungkook's thumbs gently trace shapes on his waist, pressing in occasionally. "You like that?" Jungkook whispers between kisses again, eyes half-lidded, and Taehyung can't believe he is still in his senses when Jungkook looks like that.
"Yeah." Taehyung whispers eagerly. "Is my kissing better now?" Jungkook smiles, warmth blooming in his chest. "It's the best." He presses a quick, tight-lipped kiss to Taehyung's lips. "You're the best."
It only makes Taehyung more confident, and he goes in for another round. This time, the kiss is deep and messy, and neither of them want to stop. Jungkook's hands wander all over his back, and Taehyung can feel the heat starting to pool in his stomach.
The kissing gets pretty heated soon. So much so, that Taehyung doesn't even realise that he's gently, very slightly bucking his hips into Jungkook's body. Jungkook, of course, notices and smiles into the kiss.
Taehyung feels the stretch of lips against his own, and stops. He slowly opens his eyes, and searches Jungkook's face. "What?" Jungkook presses another gentle, quick kiss to his lips, and then looks down, between their bodies.
Taehyung follows his gaze, until he sees exactly what Jungkook is looking at. There's a tent beginning to form in his own pants, and Taehyung feels the sudden rush of blood to his cheeks. He wants to disappear right now.
And so, Taehyung jumps across from Jungkook onto where his pillows are, trying to hide his face. But to his dismay, his knees get stuck against Jungkook's body and it pulls on the waistband of his sweats – enough to expose his underwear and a thin band of skin on his legs.
Landing face first on his pillow, and feeling the fabric slip down his legs, Taehyung squeezes his eyes shut. "This. Can't be happening." He says, mortified. This was supposed to be a perfect kissing session and now he's just ruined it.
Jungkook, absolutely endeared, tries to bite back a smile. "Hyung, it's nothing–" "Jungkook, I'm sorry." Taehyung says, sounding upset. "I made it all awkward because I got too excited, and then panicked."
"Hmm." Jungkook hums, and Taehyung expects him to say something else after that, but Jungkook doesn't. Instead, there's something else. Taehyung hears the sound at first – it's so loud, it almost overpowers the impact of Jungkook's palm as it smacks him on the ass.
Taehyung turns his head around immediately, eyes wide and lips parted in shock. "D-did you just... sp...sp–" "Spank you? Yeah!" Jungkook says, smiling as usual. "It looked soft."
Taehyung stares at him, but his brows and his expression relaxes, lips twitching upwards. He thinks it's hilarious, and somehow lessens the embarrassment he was feeling a while ago. Jungkook's smile grows too, and then, they both burst out laughing.
"I was just trying to diffuse the tension." Jungkook says, fondly looking at Taehyung. "Sorry if that was sudden." "It's okay." Taehyung says. "I completely forgot what happened a while ago because of it." "And did you like it?" "What?" Jungkook looks at his ass again.
[ A/N : Just so we're clear, Jungkook hit him lightly. Not too hard! Also, these are two people who very obviously want to be with each other and were in the middle of a makeout session, so please don't get the wrong idea about him doing it out of the blue! ]
Taehyung chuckles, and gently knees Jungkook. "Stop!" "I'm kidding." Jungkook smiles, eyes on Taehyung, and then taps his lap. "Do you want to come back here?" Taehyung blushes, but he doesn't break eye contact. Just nods, as he gets up, and crawls back towards Jungkook.
He gets back into Jungkook's lap, and wraps his arms around his neck once more. "To answer your question. I did like it." "Mhm, yeah?" Jungkook asks, brushing away some strands of hair from Taehyung's forehead. "Don't I deserve a kiss in return then, at least?"
And Taehyung just looks at him for a few seconds, and lets it sink in. He's with Jungkook. Jeon Jungkook. He's always wanted him. And now, Jungkook is asking him for a kiss. It's surreal.
He leans down, smiling, and presses a soft, long kiss to Jungkook's lips. "I like you so much, Jungkook. Thanks for being here with me." Jungkook wraps his arms tighter around Taehyung. "Thanks for letting me drop by, hyung. By the way, I wanted to ask you something."
Taehyung's smile falters for a moment. "Yeah?" "You know how the annual dance is just around the corner?" Jungkook begins, licking his lips nervously. "And since you want to keep us a secret, I understand but like...do you, maybe, want to go? With me? As my date?"
Taehyung feels a whole kaleidoscope of butterflies flutter inside his chest, but then there's anxiety that takes over, and Taehyung has to tear his eyes away. He wants to be Jungkook's date, yes, but Taehyung doesn't know if he's ready yet.
Jungkook immediately understands, and doesn't want to push. "I mean, no pressure. I want you to be ready first, don't worry. A lot of people go alone, it's no big deal." He chuckles. But Taehyung looks at him, and he can see the hurt in Jungkook's eyes.
And Taehyung thinks it would be extremely selfish of him to let things play out this way. So, he speaks. "You can go with someone else, it's okay. I won't... I won't mind."
Jungkook immediately frowns at that, pulling his head back. "What? Why would I do that? And why wouldn't you mind if I went with someone else?" "That's not what I meant." Taehyung begins. Jungkook looks really hurt this time, offended even. "I'm sorry." Taehyung sighs.
Sensing the tension, Taehyung climbs off of Jungkook, and tries to calmly explain. But Jungkook is sighing, getting off the bed, and looking at the time on his phone. "It's stopped raining, I believe. Thanks for having me here."
But Taehyung is quick to follow after him, panicking because Jungkook sounds mad. "Jungkook, please don't be angry." Jungkook, who is currently fiddling with his wet clothes, visibly relaxes. His voice is now lower, gentler. "I'm not."
"I'm not stupid." Taehyung takes a few steps towards him. "I'm really sorry. I really didn't mean it like that." Jungkook sighs. "Why would you be okay with the idea of me going with someone else? I really didn't like it when you said it – and so easily, at that."
"Of course I wouldn't be okay with it." Taehyung sighs. "I just– I just didn't want to sound selfish." Jungkook half turns his head at that. "It's not selfish to want what's yours, and to have it just for yourself."
Taehyung feels his knees go weak at the words, and can't help but immediately take a few steps forward, until he's right behind Jungkook. He snakes his arms around Jungkook's waist, and dips his nose into the crook of his neck. "My bad. Please forgive me. Don't be mad at me."
Jungkook sighs, shoulders sagging further, as he takes both of Taehyung's hands in his own. He brings them up, and presses a kiss to the back of each one. "Okay." "Okay?" Taehyung asks, and Jungkook nods.
Heart still fluttering from the kisses on his hands, Taehyung steps back a little. Jungkook still stands facing away from him. "I'm totally fine with going alone if you don't feel ready to go with me. Okay? Don't feel bad about it."
"Okay." Taehyung says. "You're the best." Jungkook chuckles softly. "Do you want me to say no, you are?" "No." Taehyung chuckles too, and lets his gaze shift to Jungkook's ass. Well-sculpted, toned, inviting. He bites his lip, wondering if he should, but then smacks it anyway.
[ A/N : DID I LIE?! ]
Jungkook huffs out a laugh, and throws his head back. But then he turns around, gaze piercing and locked onto Taehyung's eyes. "You are the one." He steps towards Taehyung, cups his face, and captures his lips in a kiss again.
"Stay." Taehyung says. "Just a while. I'll make you something nice to eat." "I'd stay even if you didn't." Jungkook says, pressing another kiss to Taehyung's lips. "And, think about the dance, yeah?"
Taehyung nods. "I will. Thanks for understanding." "I wish I could spend the night." Jungkook says then. "But I've got to leave soon." Taehyung nods again. Jungkook sighs. "I'll see you in the cafΓ©teria after today, yes?" "Yes." "Okay. Going to sneak glances at you."
[ The next morning. ]
Taehyung excitedly hurries into the cafΓ©teria, but the moment he does, he feels annoyance bubble up in his chest. "Did you hear, Jungkook doesn't have a date to the dance yet?" "Do you think we should try and ask?" "He said he has a boyfriend? Did he get dumped?"
Taehyung tries to ignore whatever people are talking about, but even when he tries to sit down and eat, before he's even spotted Jungkook, he hears people gossiping again. "Maybe if he really got dumped, it's a good chance to barge in and be his shoulder to cry on."
Taehyung's fist clenches, knuckles turning white. He hates the way people are talking about Jungkook, like he is some sort of prize. He wishes he could clamp their jaws shut. But he doesn't give them much importance and tries to block it all out. He starts to look for Jungkook.
There he is, in his usual corner of the cafΓ©teria. He's dressed in a grey hoodie today, looking handsome as usual. Taehyung sighs, feeling warm because Jungkook is his– Before he can complete his train of thought, Jungkook looks directly at him. Taehyung panics, and looks away.
When he looks back up, the scene is quite different and the blush is swept right off of Taehyung's cheeks. The girl who was next to him a while ago, is now approaching Jungkook, and Taehyung wonders if the reason is what he thinks.
He feels his fists clenching again, as she stops at his table and starts to talk. Jungkook is looking at her now, and he looks like he's trying to say no. Yes, she definitely asked him to the dance.
But Jungkook smiles, politely declining, and she walks away. Taehyung is sure he sees a roll of eyes, but is relieved. He tries to go back to sneaking a look at Jungkook again, when this time there's a guy trying to convince him about something. Jungkook keeps shaking his head.
It annoys Taehyung a lot, and now that it's come to this, the thought of anyone else going with Jungkook makes something twist in his chest. When he thinks about the way people have been talking about Jungkook, it makes him angry.
So, Taehyung gets up. He takes uncertain steps towards Jungkook's table, not sure what he's doing. He just knows he doesn't want to share.
Indeed, as he gets closer, he can hear it. The names of people being thrown at him. People himself offering him to go with them. Someone even saying extremely suggestive things, as Jungkook just keeps shaking his head and waves it all off.
Taehyung thinks he might be crazy, because he doesn't stop there. He just keeps walking, until he's at Jungkook's table and Jungkook looks up at him, surprised. Before Jungkook can say anything, Taehyung grabs him by the wrist, and Jungkook stands up, a small smile on his lips.
"He's not going to the dance with any of you." Taehyung says, his voice low, but his eyes are on Jungkook. "He's my date. Stop bothering him." Taehyung continues. "And maybe– maybe stop talking about him like he's some sort of trophy to be won."
"Hyung..." Jungkook breathes out the word, and he sounds like he's swooning. "What's with the hidden face?" One of the people at the table huffs, eyeing Taehyung up and down, taking in his covered appearance. "Who are you?"
Taehyung's grip on Jungkook's wrist strengthens, and he pulls him closer until their sides are pressed together. He promises himself that he isn't going to chicken out now. "Me?" He asks, heart beating like crazy. "I'm that boyfriend you heard about."
[ A/N : I hope you enjoyed this update! Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you for reading. Good night! ]
Hi, I'll be updating now. Minors DO NOT read/interact/follow me. πŸ”žπŸ”ž The rest of you, happy reading and I hope this update makes you smile!
At that, the table falls silent. Everyone, including Jungkook, stares at Taehyung in disbelief. That is, until the woman who was trying to hit on Jungkook snorts. "Boyfriend? Yeah sure. Jungkook, you're going to let random people call you their boyfriend now?"
"Well, I am." Taehyung snaps again. "Sit the fuck down." She scoffs, crossing her arms in disbelief, but Jungkook just shrugs, looking amused. "Well, he is." "Seriously?" She eyes Taehyung up and down. "This guy?" "Seriously?" Taehyung narrows his eyes. "That outfit?"
Her mouth falls open a little, but she scoffs the embarrassment off as she takes a seat. From the side, another person speaks up. "Why that mask, seriously?" He says. "You look like a freak. Let me see what you're hiding behind it."
He just extends his hand out to try and take the mask off, but Jungkook grabs his wrist and twists it a little, making him yelp out in pain. "Back off! Nobody touches him without his permission." Jungkook says, sounding enraged. "And watch your mouth when you talk about him."
Taehyung looks at Jungkook's fingers gripping that person's wrist hard, and he starts to feel a little light headed. The adrenaline begins to wear off, and Taehyung realises all the things he's just said. He starts to feel a little nervous.
His grip on Jungkook's wrist loosens, and his fingers slip off a little, tightening around Jungkook's sleeve instead. As if immediately noticing the shift, Jungkook – without even looking down at their hands, takes Taehyung's hand in his, and intertwines their fingers.
"Jungkook." He whispers. "I'm n-nervous." Jungkook jerks off the wrist he had been gripping, and looks at Taehyung. "Do you want to get out of here?" Taehyung nods. Jungkook takes a step back, and whispers. "Hyung...."
"What?" Taehyung asks, looking at Jungkook because he can't look the others in the eye anymore. "Run." Jungkook says, and before Taehyung can even process it, he's being pulled in the opposite direction, at high speed.
Jungkook runs really fucking fast, and Taehyung tries his best to keep up. "Where..." He pants. "Are you... Taking me?" "Somewhere private." Jungkook answers. He runs out through the corridor and into the big lawn sprawling out in the heart of the university campus.
"Why?" Taehyung asks, out of breath. Jungkook stops running, puts one hand on his own waist and tries to catch his breath. He straightens up a few seconds later, and stares at Taehyung, chest heaving up and down.
Jungkook comes closer, and uses the other hand to grab Taehyung's other wrist instead. He brings both their hands up, and looks Taehyung in the eye. "What?" Taehyung asks, nervous under Jungkook's gaze.
Jungkook only shifts closer in response, and this time, his voice comes out low. "After what you did back there – which was so fucking hot, by the way." Jungkook says, eyes flitting to Taehyung's lips. "Don't you think I'd want to kiss you?"
Taehyung's eyes widen, and he gently swats Jungkook's hands away. "Not here! We're literally out in the open." Jungkook pouts, and sighs. "Fine."
Taehyung looks around, and uses his knuckles to quickly caress Jungkook's cheeks. "Hey, stop pouting." He says. "Let's umm, have a sleepover tonight?"
Jungkook's eyes immediately light up, and he smiles instantly. "A sleepover?" Taehyung nods. "If you want to." Jungkook rolls his eyes. "Hyung." He puts both his hands on Taehyung's shoulders. "I will never not want to spend time with you."
Taehyung smiles behind his mask, and Jungkook can tell because it reaches his eyes. "Okay. Your room?" "Oh yeah. No problem." Jungkook says. "I'll have to escort you, though. I don't want anyone bothering my boyfriend on his way to my room."
Taehyung looks down, cheeks flushed red. "Do you always have to talk like that?" "Like what?" "So good with your words." "I'm good at other things, too." Jungkook whispers.
Taehyung looks up immediately, eyes wide. He shakes Jungkook's hands off, and gently, playfully pushes him. "Go to class!" Jungkook pretends to be hurt, and puts his hand on his chest. "Ouch, don't push me away, boyfriend."
Taehyung takes a step back, biting back a smile. "I'll see you in a few hours?" "Text me." Jungkook says, putting his hands into his pockets. "I'll come get you."
[ A/N : I'm going to go eat, and then continue updating in a bit! Till then, tell me how it's going so far? ]
Taehyung patiently waits, his little backpack slung on his back. He waits, unable to stay still for even a minute. The thought of spending the night at Jungkook's room with him – even if all they do is talk, is so exciting. So surreal, even now.
And soon enough, he sees a familiar figure approaching, and his entire stomach fills up with butterflies. Jungkook is walking towards him, smile on his face, clad in a simple black t-shirt and grey sweatpants.
Taehyung walks towards him too, and when they're close enough, Jungkook holds out his hand. "Come on." Jungkook says, pointing his chin towards his hand. "Let's go."
He doesn't let go of Taehyung's hand even once as they walk past all the blocks in between. Taehyung blushes the entire way, basking in the warmth of Jungkook's touch. "We're almost there." Jungkook says. "Are you carrying everything you need?"
Taehyung nods. "Yes. Are there people waiting to jump me in your dorm building?" Jungkook snorts. "I'd love to see them try with me right there."
There are people when they reach Jungkook's dorm building, but they either look away or simply steer clear as Jungkook walks in with Taehyung. Taehyung doesn't even make eye contact with anyone. He just keeps walking, holding Jungkook's hand and waiting to enter his room.
It's when Jungkook shuts the door of his room behind them that Taehyung feels relieved. He's going to be fine now – or so he thinks. Because the next moment, Jungkook is caging him against the door, and leaning in. "We're not out in the open anymore, are we, hyung?"
Taehyung lets out a small gasp, gathering all his courage so he can look into Jungkook's eyes. He shyly nods his head. And then, Jungkook brings up his hands, and removes Taehyung's mask. "Wow, I missed your face. You're so beautiful."
Taehyung immediately bites his lips, blushing hard. "You're so..." But his words turn into just heavy breathing, and Jungkook keeps getting closer, until he's able to put his lips on Taehyung's.
His palms move higher and higher up the contours of Taehyung's waist, and he deepens the kiss but remains as gentle as possible with his lips. Taehyung feels like he's going to melt into a puddle by the door.
Taehyung feels heat pool in his stomach, and his arms automatically wrap around Jungkook's neck. The moment Jungkook pulls back and ends it with a quick peck on Taehyung's lips, he buries his face in the crook of Jungkook's neck. "I'm feeling so shy right now, Jungkook."
Jungkook smiles into the hug, and holds Taehyung closer. He gently caresses Taehyung's hair, and presses a kiss to it. "Are you going to move?" He gently asks. "Because I don't mind carrying you to the bed."
Taehyung immediately breaks the hug and clears his throat. "I'm g-going." He struts into the room, and sets his backpack down. He gets rid of his hoodie, and is now left with a simple t-shirt which exposes his arms.
Jungkook immediately steps forward, and glides his palms down Taehyung's bare arms. "Every part of you is so pretty, hyung." And by now, Taehyung is a blushing mess. But then again, in Jungkook's presence, he always is.
"I got you some cookies." Taehyung nervously says, trying to divert Jungkook's attention. "Yeah?" Jungkook asks, wrapping his arms around Taehyung's waist, and pressing a kiss to his neck. "Are you going to feed them to me?"
"If you want." "Good. Thank you. I ordered us some takeout." "That's good. Thank you, Jungkook." "I also planned something for our sleepover."
Taehyung turns around, and looks at Jungkook expectantly. "You remember how you said you want to watch a movie when the weather is cozy, and lie under the starry sky?" Jungkook asks, and Taehyung nods eagerly.
He breaks the hug, and moves towards one corner of his room to pick out a box. He opens it, and pulls out a lamp, which he sets on his nightstand. He turns the lights off and the lamp on, and immediately, the room is drowned in a myriad of colors and stars.
"This, I designed this, and got my friend to make it for me." Jungkook turns around and smiles at Taehyung. I can't bring you the stars here, but I figured this was the closest I could do." Taehyung can't help but get a little teary-eyed as he stares at the ceiling.
"And the weather–" Jungkook gets up, and looks out of the window. "Is rather cozy, so let's watch your favorite movie together." Taehyung doesn't answer him. He just walks up to him, and pulls him into a hug.
Jungkook is a little startled at first, but he immediately hugs Taehyung back. "Hey, what happened?" "You." Taehyung whispers, and buries his nose into Jungkook's chest. "You happened."
Jungkook is about to ask him further questions, but his face is being held between the prettiest pair of hands he's ever seen, and then Taehyung is kissing him. Jungkook can't hold it anymore, and moves around, so that they both end up on the bed.
He's hovering over Taehyung's body in no time, and Taehyung seems to be unwilling to stop kissing him. Ultimately, he does though, and immediately seems embarrassed about it. But Jungkook fixes it with a kiss to his forehead. "You're so sexy when you take control."
Under Jungkook's gaze, and his body, Taehyung once again feels like he's going to evaporate. "The movie...? We should– watch something..." Jungkook chuckles. "You can watch the movie. I'll be watching you."
Taehyung chuckles, and pushes him off. They set up a laptop, some snacks, and get into Jungkook's bed. Jungkook insists on Taehyung sitting in such a way that he can hold on to him, and Taehyung obviously agrees. They start the movie.
Taehyung seems very invested in the movie, and Jungkook seems very invested in Taehyung. Taehyung is also very aware of it. Everytime Jungkook brushes off a stray strand of hair from his face, or feeds him popcorn, Taehyung melts.
"You're so beautiful." Jungkook says at one point during the movie. "You, out of all people, do not need to hide your face. Just saying." Taehyung's heart picks up speed at that. "I... I like staying lowkey. I am also pretty socially anxious now, so I like it that way, I guess."
Jungkook nods, hooking his chin on Taehyung's shoulder. "I understand, and it's completely your choice. Personally, I would love to see you walk around freely without caring about other people. But it's up to you, of course." Taehyung nods.
"I just..." Jungkook sighs, nuzzling his nose against the side of Taehyung's face. "I just wish I could see your face more often. I swear, I would never get tired of it. You're so handsome." Taehyung feels himself relax into Jungkook's arms.
"Would you like it if I showed my face more often?" Taehyung asks. "Yes, but it doesn't matter." Jungkook immediately answers. "I want you to do whatever you're comfortable with. I'll like you either way, and I get to see your face anyway. Albeit only in private."
Jungkook is so considerate and so nice to him, it makes Taehyung wonder if all of this is just a dream. And if it is, Taehyung is afraid of waking up and realising that it indeed is. "Thank you." Taehyung says, the movie still playing in the background, but long forgotten.
Jungkook kisses him on the cheek. "What for?" Taehyung just half turns his face, cups Jungkook's, and presses a kiss to his cheek. "For being you. I don't want to watch the movie anymore." "Why not?" Jungkook frowns. "Can we just umm... cuddle?" Taehyung asks.
"Heck, yes!" Jungkook says, and he is quick to get the snacks and the laptop out of the way. He dusts the comforter, and then makes space for Taehyung inside it. "Here." Jungkook pats. "Come here, next to me."
Taehyung crawls in, and adjusts himself so that he's lying down next to Jungkook. He's never ever done this before. Never cuddled a romantic partner – so he just lies there awkwardly, not knowing what to do with his hands.
But Jungkook seems to have his back, as he gently turns him around, and wraps his arms around Taehyung's body, holding him close. He snuggles up close, and whispers. "I could do this everyday."
Taehyung nervously chuckles. "Jungkook. Do you really like my face that much?" Jungkook pauses for a second, before he answers, sounding a little offended. "Are you kidding me? What do you mean like?"
"I just..." Taehyung feels like he doesn't have enough words. "I've never had anyone complimenting me so much. It's... All of it is surreal." Jungkook presses closer, and whispers. "Listen to me. When I say that you're the most beautiful person I've ever seen, I mean it."
"Okay." Is all Taehyung says. With sweet nothings whispered, chuckles shared over jokes and kisses littered over each other's skin, they fall asleep.
In the morning, Taehyung wakes up first, and before he can do anything else, he just turns around in Jungkook's arms and watches him. Sleeping like this, he looks so peaceful, but still strikingly handsome. Taehyung wishes he could take a picture.
He tries to get out of bed without waking Jungkook up, and after a good few minutes of trying, he manages it. He packs his stuff into his backpack, and checks his watch. He should get going because he has class in an hour.
He kneels down by the bed, and gently caresses Jungkook's hair. "Hey." He whispers. "Jungkook? I've gotta go now."
Jungkook opens sleep-heavy eyes and looks at him for a few seconds, before abruptly sitting up. Rubbing his face, he nods. "Let me walk you."
"What, no!" Taehyung says, hands on Jungkook's waist, trying to get him to lie back down. "I'll go by myself. It's okay. Thanks for last night, I had fun." "Are you sure?" Jungkook asks, voice groggy and eyes still half shut.
"Yeah." Taehyung says, and presses a kiss to Jungkook's cheeks. "Go back to sleep." Jungkook opens one eye, checks him out, and then shuts it again. "You're beautiful even in the morning."
Taehyung bites his lips, and he leans his head against Jungkook's arms. "You know what, Jungkook?" "Mhm?" "You make me feel so special. Like I'm worth something." Jungkook's eyes completely open up at that. "What? What happened?"
"And...and..." Taehyung's voice starts to break. "When I'm with you, I feel so brave. Braver than usual, at least. Can you believe how I behaved at the cafΓ©teria?" "Hyung?" Jungkook asks, worried.
Taehyung just shakes his head. "You make me so happy, Jungkook. And..." He starts to silently sob, then, burying his head into the bed. "Hyung, you're not breaking up with me are you?" Jungkook is extremely confused, having just woken up. "We literally just started dating."
Taehyung's shoulders shake with what seem like laughter. "No, silly. Why would I do that when you're the best thing that's happened to me?" Jungkook looks at him as he stands up and wipes his tears. "Why are you crying?"
Taehyung just shakes his head. "Nothing, I have to leave now. You need to get ready for class too." And then, Taehyung picks up his hoodie, and stares at it. After staring for a while, he hands it over to Jungkook. "Keep it."
Jungkook looks up at him, still clueless, but he accepts it anyway. "I have no idea what you're thinking." Taehyung wipes his tears, and smiles. Then, he brushes his hair backwards so that his forehead and eyes are visible clearly. "Does this look good?"
Jungkook looks on, confused. His heart is beating really fast right now. "Everything looks good on you, but like this, especially, yes. Wow." Taehyung nods, and heads towards the door. He picks up the mask Jungkook took off of his face the previous evening.
"Hyung, are you okay?" Jungkook asks, voice laced with worry. "I'm just fine." Taehyung smiles at him, bringing the mask up to his face.
But then he shakes his head, and throws the mask into the trash can by the door. "Hyung...what?" Jungkook asks, eyes wide. Taehyung steps out of the door, bare faced. He turns around, and smiles. "You deserve this, Jungkook. You deserve to see me like this more often."
[ A/N : That's it for tonight! Hope you enjoyed reading and liked how Taehyung's character is evolving as him and Jungkook navigate their relationship together. Thank you so much for reading, good night! Let me know your thoughts, please! ]
Hi, updating now! Last update, and thank you everyone for reading so far and giving so much love to this story! Minors DO NOT read or interact and DO NOT follow me. πŸ”žπŸ”ž The rest of you, I hope you like how the story ends! Let's go!
Taehyung shuts the door behind him, and takes one step forward. Alone, with his face bare, and with all his inhibitions hopefully left behind. Only for a few seconds though, because after that, Taehyung suddenly feels very conscious again.
Regardless, he tells himself to not be scared. There's no going back now – there should not be any going back now. "You can do this, Taehyung, come on." He whispers to himself. But just then, he hears a door opening somewhere in the corridor, and panics again.
As if on reflex, his shoulders start to turn around to run back into Jungkook's room. But if the hard chest that immediately presses against his back and the warmth that engulfs him when a familiar arm anchors him at his side is anything to go by, he doesn't have to anymore.
Jungkook comes up from behind him, and intertwines their fingers together. "You're not alone, you know." He whispers, while simultaneously walking ahead and taking Taehyung with him. "I'll go with you, come on. You're so brave for this, and I'm so proud of you, hyung."
Someone comes out into the corridor, and stares. "Wow, didn't take you for a player, Jeon." He chuckles. "Your boyfriend won't be happy about this. He probably thinks you're in love with him or something. Who's this, by the way? You've surely got taste."
It's one of the guys from the previous day, and suddenly, Taehyung feels angry again. Despite the fact that he doesn't have his mask on, he takes one step ahead, and speaks, his voice progressively getting louder. "I am the same guy from yesterday, you fucking idiot!"
The guy frowns, and his mouth falls open just a bit, before he chuckles. But he quickly stops laughing when neither Jungkook or Taehyung move. "Wait." He asks. "Seriously?"
And upon hearing the commotion, more and more people come out of their rooms and start to whisper among themselves. "That's your boyfriend?" Another person from the previous day asks. "The one with the mask? Oh, that's– wow."
"Yes." Jungkook wraps his arm around Taehyung's frame, and presses a kiss to his temple in front of everyone. "This is him, my boyfriend. Please don't stare for too long." Taehyung would hear that if the he wasn't melting into the kiss.
Jungkook continues to walk him until they cross the corridor, and are walking down the stairs. On one of the other floors, Taehyung spots the woman from the previous day, the one who pissed him off a lot, and kept hitting on Jungkook. She starts to look at them curiously.
Taehyung rolls his eyes. "Yes!" He yells. "I'm the guy who yelled at you yesterday, Jungkook's boyfriend. The one with the mask, it's me, that's right." She keeps staring, as Taehyung cups Jungkook's face, and presses a quick peck to his lips. "See? Now, move along."
Jungkook just can't believe how bold Taehyung is getting, and he just stares with wide eyes and an amused smile. "Fuck, that's so hot." "Come on!" Taehyung pulls his hand, as he makes his way to his dorm. "Let's go."
[ One month, several dates, and lots of kisses later – ] "Jungkookie." Taehyung pouts, both hands holding two different shirts as he looks into the mirror. "The dance is in five hours and I still can't decide what to wear."
Jungkook just smiles at him from where he's sitting on Taehyung's bed, just taking in the way he's fussing over clothes. It's so endearing to watch. "I mean." He says, and scratches the side of his arm. "You're going to look great regardless of what you wear."
Taehyung sighs. "You always say that." "Well." Jungkook gasps, pretending to be offended. "That's because I mean it!"
Taehyung pouts as he waddles to the bed, and climbs onto it before lying down next to it. "Maybe I'll just wear pajamas." Jungkook begins to chuckle beside him, and turns on his side to give Taehyung a hug. "No, you don't have to."
Taehyung frowns at that, but hugs Jungkook back regardless. "What? Do you want me to go naked?" Jungkook starts to laugh even more at that. "I mean, I'm not opposed to the idea of you being naked..."
"But." Jungkook says. "I'd rather you save your nakedness just for me. So no, that's not what you're going to do. What you're going to do is–" Jungkook stops talking because his phone starts to ring.
"Hello?" Jungkook says, and Taehyung looks on curiously, clinging to Jungkook. "Oh, I'll be there in a minute." Taehyung frowns as Jungkook gives him a quick kiss on the forehead, and gets off the bed. "Baby, I have to go. I'll be back in a bit?"
Taehyung sits up on the bed, a pout on his lips and frown on his forehead as he nods and watches Jungkook walk to the door. Jungkook walks out and shuts the door behind himself, and Taehyung sighs.
He gets on his phone to distract himself for a while, but not even two minutes later, the door is opening again. "Jungkook?" Taehyung sits up again. "That was fast."
Jungkook enters with a grin on his face, before his whole body is visible. And there, in his hand, is a big white box. "Hyung!" He smiles, biting his lips, excited for Taehyung to see it. "I have a delivery for you!"
"What?" Taehyung asks, eyes narrowed but heart beating really fast at the same time. "I didn't order anything." "Yeah, but I did!" Jungkook excitedly runs closer and keeps the box on Taehyung's bed. "Open it."
Taehyung carefully undoes the bow, taking the packaging apart gently. Jungkook watches on, excited. "I requested them to wrap it like this. With ribbons, because it makes the box look pretty. Like you. The person it's for."
Taehyung smiles at that. "You didn't have to – Oh. Oh, wow." Taehyung gasps, as the contents of the box come into view. "Jungkook, you did not just do this for me." "Don't be silly." Jungkook says, gently caressing Taehyung's cheek. "Who else am I supposed to do this for?"
Taehyung holds up the black lace shirt, and looks at Jungkook through it because it's see-through. "Jungkook..." "You mentioned you like lacy shirts." Jungkook shrugs. "And I really wanted you to feel your best at the dance."
"But...my chest is going to show." Taehyung says, cheeks red. "Although, this is so pretty. I love it so much, thank you." "That's what these are for!" Jungkook picks up the two piece suit still sitting in the box. "A red suit to match with my red shirt."
Taehyung takes the suit in his hand, and holds it all close to his chest. "Thank you, Jungkook." "Anytime, baby." Jungkook leans in closer. "I think I love you." Taehyung says. Jungkook stops where he is. Just pauses.
Jungkook hangs his head, and just breathes for a bit. He looks up a few seconds later, though, and continues to lean in, before he kisses Taehyung on the lips. "I think I love you too, hyung." Jungkook whispers against his lips.
[ Four hours later – ] "Jungkook." Taehyung whines for the umpteenth time this evening. "I feel like I'm going to throw up."
"You're going to be fine." Jungkook says from where he's lying on Taehyung's bed, chin dipping into a pillow. He's been here half an hour now, ready for the party. Taehyung has been washing his face in the bathroom, and getting ready.
"Jungkook, I know I have been going around without a mask but at this dance, everyone is going to be there." Taehyung says from inside. Jungkook can hear the rustling of fabric, which probably means that Taehyung is putting on or adjusting his clothes.
"And?" Jungkook frowns. "You're still going to be the most beautiful person in the room. I'm going to be there right by your side. Don't worry." "What if I trip and fall?" Taehyung asks. Jungkook chuckles. "I'll catch you."
"I look okay, right?" "Baby." Jungkook sighs. "I can't even see you because you insist on dressing up inside the bathroom, but I just know that you look more than okay. So beautiful."
"Do I look extra with this outfit on?" Taehyung asks. "Yes." Jungkook says. "Extra beautiful, extra sexy."
"I'm coming, okay?" Taehyung warns from inside the bathroom, before he steps out. "Already? I haven't even touched you yet." Jungkook jokes, and giggles all by himself at what he just said.
Taehyung clicks his tongue, but chuckles immediately after. "Okay, seriously, here I come." Jungkook pushes himself up on his elbows, and anticipates. Taehyung steps out, and comes and stands in front of Jungkook wearing the outfit Jungkook got him.
"What do you think?" He asks. Jungkook looks him up and down, a small smile on his face and eyes big, filled with wonder. "I think I want to kiss you right now."
"I've never worn something so fancy outside before tonight." Taehyung says, clutching on to Jungkook's biceps as they approach the party hall a few minutes and a kiss later. Jungkook looks at him. "It's a lace shirt, not a ball gown, hyung."
Taehyung lightly slaps him on the arm. "Stop teasing me. I'm nervous, okay?" Jungkook takes his hand in his own, intertwines their fingers, and kisses the back of Taehyung's palm. "I'm right here, okay?"
Taehyung looks into his eyes, and tries to take deep, long breaths. "Okay." "Let's go." Jungkook says. "I can't wait to flaunt my boyfriend in front of everyone."
Taehyung feels a little hesitant looking around and making eye contact at first, but eventually he relaxes a little. Jungkook gets them some drinks, and he stays with Taehyung in one corner, just talking, until Taehyung feels confident enough to go onto the dance floor.
"Okay, let's go." Taehyung chugs down his soda, and puts the glass on the counter. "Don't let go of my hand, okay?" "Never." Jungkook smiles. "Shall I have a dance, then, Kim Taehyung-ssi?"
Taehyung lets out a deep breath, and takes Jungkook's hand. Jungkook stands up, and Taehyung follows suit. Jungkook leads him to the middle of the dance floor, and Taehyung follows, suddenly hyper-aware of all the eyes on them.
The chatter isn't as loud as before, many people just stopping to look at the pair. Some are jealous of Taehyung, some simply in awe. The music is soft, extremely romantic, and Jungkook puts his hand on Taehyung's waist, before he starts to waltz.
And when they do, everyone else just starts to fade into the background for Taehyung. All that matters out of everyone present in that room, in that moment is Jungkook, himself, and them dancing together. This is what Taehyung had always yearned for – to feel loved.
And he feels so, so loved. He feels special, and so worthy. He's not even scared to walk around without a mask anymore – something he couldn't have imagined even as little as a month ago.
Slowly, he moves closer, and buries his face into the crook of Jungkook's neck. Before a tear can escape his eye, he controls himself. That makeup took him a long time to perfect. "Thank you, Jungkook." He whispers, smiling against the skin of Jungkook's neck.
"What for?" Jungkook smiles, and wraps his arms around Taehyung. He still sways, and doesn't give a fuck about who's watching them instead of focusing on their own dance. "You bring out the best in me." Taehyung says. "And I'm really grateful for that."
Jungkook smiles, and presses a kiss to Taehyung's forehead. "I can't take all that credit." He says. "It was always inside you somewhere. Your best. I just had to give you a little push. Happiness and confidence look amazing on you."
"I hope you and me can spend many more happy days together." Taehyung sighs. "Feels like I had been waiting for this my whole life." "Oh yes, we will." Jungkook says. "Remember what I said about us being fated?"
[ A/N : The End! ] . . . . . . . . . [ No lol, I'm kidding. This AU isn't done yet. Keep reading, people! ]
[ Bonus! ] [ Five years later! ]
"No, I can't." Taehyung sighs on the phone. "I was already on call last night and I'm spent. I have a prior engagement tonight, sorry. I'll be there tomorrow." When the call ends, he sets his phone aside and hurries. Jungkook must be waiting.
Taehyung takes a bus to the location, and gets off right in front of the restaurant. "Fuck." He curses as he looks at his watch, and realises that he's already half an hour late. "He's going to be so mad."
He steps inside, and looks around, until he spots his boyfriend. Jungkook is on his phone, smiling, and he doesn't look upset, which is a good thing. Taehyung relaxes. He walks over to the table, and sits down. "Hi, baby. Sorry, I just got off work and took a nap."
"Baby." Jungkook smiles, and brings out a huge bouquet of roses. "We should have just stayed in today. You look so tired." "It's okay." Taehyung shakes his head. "You've been wanting to dine here for so long now."
"Hyung..." Jungkook says. "I think I'm going to leave my job." Taehyung's eyes widen. "Okay. If that makes you happy. But... Why?"
The corners of Jungkook's lips twitch. "It was so hard to keep this from you all this time, but I wanted it to be a surprise." Taehyung is lost. "What? I don't understand a thing."
Jungkook leans forward on the table, and clasps his fingers together. "Hyung, a while ago, I pitched in a project and it caught some investors' attention." Taehyung gasps, eyes wide. "A startup? Jungkookie...but are you sure about it?"
"It was a few months ago." Jungkook smiles. "Right now, the turnover has already crossed a few millions. In dollars!" Taehyung has to bring his hand up to cover his mouth. "Are you– are you serious? Baby. I'm so proud of you."
"Thank you." Jungkook nods, his eyes watering up a little bit. "Thank you for always believing in me and supporting me a hundred percent." Taehyung smiles. "Always. But what project was it?"
Jungkook puts his phone forward, and shows Taehyung their first chat. "The app. The one where we met. Apparently, everyone loves it now."
"No way!" Taehyung smiles. "Baby? I love you so much. This is incredible. We need to celebrate." "I already have everything planned out." Jungkook says, biting his lips. "About how to celebrate."
Taehyung crosses his arms. "Oh, really? How?" Jungkook pulls out something of his pocket, gets up and steps aside, and kneels down on the ground in front of Taehyung. He holds up the most beautiful ring Taehyung has ever seen, and nervously smiles.
"We have been together for over five years now. That's like half a decade. One-twentieth of a century." Jungkook says. "And I find that it is never enough. The more I have you, the more I want." Taehyung stares, eyes almost about to pop out of their sockets. "Jungkook..."
"I am by no means at the peak of my career." Jungkook says. "Yet. But I have a considerable amount saved up from my job and there's profits rolling in from the app. We're both currently stable career wise and financially. Since that's sorted, I think it's a good time."
Taehyung puts his hand on his mouth again. "So, hyung. Kim Taehyung. The love of my life. The most beautiful person I've ever met." Jungkook says, and looks into Taehyung's eyes with longing in his own. "Will you marry me?"
Taehyung presses his own palm harder against his mouth, tears spilling out of his eyes. "Ahahaha." Jungkook awkwardly laughs. "My knees are hurting. But it's okay, hahaha."
Taehyung immediately gets off his chair, and kneels down to where Jungkook is. He pushes his ring finger through the ring Jungkook is holding out, and cups his face and kisses him.
It's a fine dining restaurant, but the few people present still clap and cheer for them. Taehyung stands up and brings Jungkook up, too. He hugs him immediately, and stays that way for a second. "I can't believe you thought I'd ever say no to that."
