Fall. It was Jimin’s favorite season. Great things happen to him whenever it’s autumn. He got out of his job and started his own coffee shop, he met his best friend, Taehyung, he first moved into his new apartment.
And it was also fall when he met his cute neighbor across his place. Jimin thinks Fall is his lucky season. “That’s your crush? He seems weird.” Taehyung blatantly said, one afternoon after they finished decorating the coffee shop, they went directly to Jimin’s apartment.
He looks at the cute neighbor as he sighs, “He’s not weird, he just seems sad..” Jimin trailed. The black-haired stranger is on his balcony, reading a good book, well Jimin sees the front cover and it is indeed a good book. It was written by his favorite writer, y.g.
“How do you know he’s sad? You can’t just assume other people’s emotions.” Taehyung snorts as he munched on the last piece of the pizza that Jimin baked. His eyes traveled back to the stranger who just stopped reading and then their eyes met, Jimin was quick to look away.
“I just know.” It became Jimin’s routine, every afternoon, the stranger would go to his balcony and read a book. Jimin smiles whenever he sees the front cover of the stranger’s every book because it was from the same author, y.g, who apparently is Jimin’s favorite.
“Man, got some taste.” He whispers as he continues to bake his favorite muffins. Jimin’s most favorite place in his small apartment is his kitchen because aside from his love of baking, he could clearly see the balcony where his crush usually spent most of his time.
🌼🌼🌼
Jimin felt a little sad, it’s been three days since he last saw his neighbor. He didn’t go to his usual time and spot and Jimin became worried. It happened to him before, someone who seems sad and then they just disappear, forever.
tw // mention of suicide His little friend took his own life and Jimin swore he would never want that to happen again. Even though he never got a chance to talk with his neighbor.
He grabbed his favorite book and planned to talk to his neighbor but as soon as he got out of the door, he saw his cute neighbor who got out of his place as well. Jimin became flustered at their sudden eye contact so he quickly ran away to avoid being an embarrassment.
Jimin has a deep shade of pink when he reaches his coffee shop. “What happened to you, Sir?” Soobin asked, his barista and a part-timer. “Hmm if Jimin-ssi is that red, that means he just saw his crush.” Taehyung butts in, which makes Soobin laugh. He glared at the younger.
“One latte, please.” He orders and Soobin quickly makes his drink. He’s already here anyway, why not stay for a couple of hours? He looks at the pile of books in the corner, it seems like his delivery is already here. “They haven’t arranged the books yet?” Taehyung nods.
“I know you love arranging them yourselves.” Jimin giggles, his best friend absolutely knew everything about him. Jimin has a peculiar way of arranging his books, it’s not by category, he likes to arrange them by colors and thickness.
Taehyung often makes fun of him but he doesn’t know either. It’s just so satisfying to see that the books on his shelves are arranged by colors. Jimin hums when he finishes arranging his books. He even forgot that he ordered a latte.
“Now that’s such a different way to arrange your books.” Jimin is startled at the voice, the tall man smiles and Jimin can’t help but to notice the dimples this man has. “You love books too?” Jimin asks. It’s not every time that he talks to a customer who loves books as well.
“Not to boast anything but I owned a publishing house.” The stranger shyly said, which left Jimin’s mouth agape. “Oh my God, It’s nice to meet you, Mr…” “Kim Namjoon.” The stranger, Mr. Kim, speaks.
“Wait, that name was familiar. Rkive publishing?” The stranger nods and Jimin can’t help but to squeal. “Sir, it was really great to meet you! I’m a huge fan of the works in your company!” Jimin excitedly said.
Namjoon laughs, “I can tell. I could recognize the books. They’re all from y.g and from other writers in my company as well.”
Jimin shyly scratches his neck, “I just love how y.g conveys the emotions through his words. They’re just amazing, It’s so devastating that they stop from writing.” Jimin sighs , he discovered his favorite writer at his lowest and darkest times. When everything seems to be wrong,
the words from a certain writer captures his heart and he found himself completely lost in y.g’s works. “He never stopped writing, he’s just on hiatus to focus on other things.” and somehow, Jimin felt relieved.
“I hope he never stops writing because there’s actually a lot of people who were holding on to his words.” Namjoon softly smiles. Mr. Kim didn’t stay that long and bid his goodbye to his new found friend. Jimin smiles in content,
what are the odds that the owner of his favorite publishing company stops in his coffee shop? Maybe meeting his favorite writer isn’t that impossible. 🌼🌼🌼
Jimin put his bicycle aside, his smile grew when he saw the familiar building in front. The same building that used to witness his dreams. It’s Saturday and for sure, the students don’t have classes right now. With a loud thumping chest, he knocks.
The familiar warm smile welcomed him as he enters the studio. “Jiminie! I missed you!” Hoseok hugs him tight as soon as he saw the younger. “Hyung, I can’t breathe!” Jimin jokes. He heard the familiar loud laugh of his hyung that echoes within the empty dance studio.
“How are you?” Hoseok asks as soon as they settled down. No matter how much the younger tried to deny it, there’s sympathy in his hyung’s voice, there’s a pity. “Doing better, hyung! How was the studio? Did the students stressed you?”
Jimin laughs. He remembers how they used to rant at each other about how stressed the students when it comes to learning the new steps. “They still do but now, my mental care buddy isn’t with me.” Hoseok’s gaze becomes soft,
“I hope you’re happy at your new path even though you have to leave your first love.” Jimin fondly smiles, “I’m happy, hyung.” He didn’t need to lie because he’s indeed happy. Dancing might be his childhood dream but he found a new love within baking and coffees.
“That’s nice to hear.” The empty dance studio was filled with laughter and stories as they both shared how their day went. Hoseok shares embarrassing and funny stories about his students which makes Jimin laughs till he collapsed on the floor.
‘Just like the old times.’ Jimin thinks. Just like four years ago when he can still dance. “Jimin..” Hoseok calls. “Hmm?” “I hope you’ll find your way back in dancing. Don’t let the accident remove a part of you.” The older genuinely said. Jimin can’t help but to smile.
“Someday, hyung. Someday.” 🌼🌼🌼
Jimin breathes. He tried getting up but he ended up slumping on the floor. He looks at his shaking hands as tears stream down his face. “I just want to—” his sobs made it difficult to continue his words. “I just want to dance again.”
He frustratedly messes with his hair as he curled up in fetal position. He looks at the round moon while he stops his loud sobs. Everything reminds him of his accident four years ago. Fall is fast approaching and he has a competition.
The competition could be the key for him to become a world-known dancer but he failed. In front of thousands of people, he failed. He miscalculated his moves that’s why he fell from the stage and hurt his ankle. He attended therapy sessions because he’s desperate.
He desperately wants to go back to his old life, to where he belongs and that’s on stage. But fate isn’t always gonna side with him. His doctor told him it was hard for him to go back dancing, he might be able to do it again but the chances are slim.
His accident left a trauma in his bones which makes it difficult to dance again. He spent the night crying and feeling miserable as to why he can’t be the same Jimin. Maybe it’s time for him to let the old habits go.
He woke up at the sound of the piano. He wants to curse someone who’s playing the instrument this early but he can’t deny that whoever playing that is really good. Soft melodies filled his empty apartment but then he realizes where the sound coming from, it’s from his neighbor.
Jimin knows it’s bad to peek at someone especially if they’re in their own world but he can’t help it. His neighbor is too pretty for this world, he looks at the stranger’s hands as he plays the keys. The music stopped and so his heart because the moment the music stopped,
their eyes met. This time, Jimin didn’t run away, he musters his courage to smile at his crush for months now. But the stranger ignores him. Jimin rolls his eyes, “You should be thankful you’re handsome.” 🌼🌼🌼
It’s fall again. A year later when he last saw his neighbor playing the piano and Jimin can still remember how shameless he is when he tried to smile but his neighbor ignored him. He can still see his crush on his balcony sometimes since he became busy at the coffee shop.
Maybe moving to this city was the best decision Jimin ever made since people love his honey-themed cafè. Jimin almost chokes at nothing when he saw the familiar figure of his crush entering the coffee shop. He’s the one at the counter but he immediately grabs Taehyung’s hair
so he could take over and get his crush’s orders. The younger huffs in annoyance but he didn’t argue anyway, after all, he’s the owner of the place. He hides under the counter as Taehyung greets the stranger. “Good morning sir, May I take your order please?”
“One Iced Americano and a croissant please.” Jimin swears he can hear the angels sing when his cute neighbor stated his order. The stranger might look small but his voice is too deep and husky. Is he a singer? Jimin thinks. “Is that it, sir?” “Yes.”
“Okay, sir. That would be $10. Can I have your name please?” Taehyung looks at him and smirks. “Yoongi.” The stranger said and Taehyung gave his receipt. He followed where his crush, Yoongi goes and he sees the he occupies the seat near the window.
He replaced Soobin and quickly gave his Iced Americano and croissant. He hears Taehyung called for Yoongi so he turns around and busies himself from the equipments. The stranger didn’t stay that long and Jimin only felt relief when Yoongi left the shop.
“Your crush’s name is Yoongi.” Taehyung teases. “I heard him.” He snorts. Well, it took him a whole year of watching the stranger from afar before he actually knows his name. “You’re right.” Taehyung trailed. “Hmm?”
“He looks sad. Remember when we first met you gave me something because I look sad?” Taehyung reminisced. “Give him something too.” 🌼🌼🌼
“Okay, you can do this, chim! You’re strong, you’re pretty, you’re talented.” Jimin tried to cheer himself as he stands in front of Yoongi’s door. “Here goes nothing.” He said before he knocks. He waited for few minutes before Yoongi opens the door.
His crush’s naked chest welcome him as his eyes wander from his chest down to his lower abdomen. ‘Good god’ Jimin curses to himself. He can’t see his face but he’s certain that he looks like a tomato right now.
“H-hi. I’m your neighbor and I own the coffee shop that you w-went to last week.” Jimin stuttered while avoiding his gaze, “Here’s a mochi, It’s for you.” he gestures the tray he’s been holding. “Thank you.” Yoongi responded with an awkward smile.
“I’m Jimin.” He shyly said. “Please don’t think I’m a stalker or what, you just look... sad so I gave you something to make you feel better.” He said in defense which makes Yoongi laughs. His heart is thumping like crazy. “I’m Yoongi, nice to meet you and thank you for this.”
Jimin met his gaze and he smiles at how beautiful the stranger is. He bid his goodbye because he needs to take over the shop today because Taehyung is absent. His heart feels warm on his way to the shop. Indeed, Fall is his lucky season. 🌼🌼🌼
“What are you thinking?” Yoongi whispers as he hugs Jimin from behind. “The first time you asked me out.” Jimin giggles and the older pouts. “Baby, that was so embarrassing.” Yoongi hides his face. The older confessed that he finds it cringe whenever he looks back to that day
“No, it was sweet.” Jimin looks at the beautiful sunflower farm in front of him. It’s been 6 years since he first saw Yoongi, it’s been 4 years since they became boyfriends and it’s been 2 years since they got married and bought this huge farm since Jimin loves yellow.
Jimin never gets back into dancing but he’s contented somehow because Yoongi never fails to take him into a little dance every morning. He let Taehyung manage his coffee shop in the city while they reside here on the farm. Yoongi also writes better stories here,
Jimin remembers the time when the older confesses that his favorite writer and his boyfriend are the same person. Jimin won't wish anything else. He found comfort in y.g’s words and he found love in Yoongi’s arms.
They settle in a not-so-known city, a small home in the middle of the beautiful sunflower farm as they filled it with love. A love that became stronger with ink and coffees, a love that would never die as they are both an artist in their own way.
A love that would stay forevermore, a love that the world would have a hard time to understand, for words are not enough to describe the depth of it. Fall is indeed Jimin’s lucky season and his favorite feeling.
