~The Singles Table~ "We are putting you on the table with Seok Woo's cousin, Jungkook. He's also freshly out of a relationship. You guys will hit it off!" Taehyung's cousin n bride to be Mee-Kyung said excitedly. Taehyung frowned "U think breakups are something to bond over?"

Taehyung was a little annoyed but let it pass. He didn't want to be a party pooper, however his mood took a downward dip on the day of his cousin's wedding.
He walked into the venue to look for his wretched table and his heartbroken table mate. 'Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook' he read the card on the table and cringed. "If it ain't my companion in misery." A musical voice behind him said sarcastically.
Taehyung turned around to see a rather handsome man, dressed to nines in a black tuxedo. "I'm glad to know that you too find this mode of grouping a bit improper." Taehyung said extending his hand. "Its downright pathetic." Jungkook said shaking his hand firmly.
Taehyung chuckled as they both settled down. "So what do you do, Jungkook?" Taehyung asked, to break the ice. "Are we seriously going to do this?" Jungkook snapped.
If Taehyung was offended, he didn't show it. He just shrugged and muttered 'alright.' "I'm sorry." Jungkook said after a moment. "I'm really sorry. It's just... its just that I got cheated on a week back and all I want to do is not think about it or see happy couples..."
"And here I am, at a wedding where I've been literally profiled on the basis of my heartbreak... I am really sorry." Taehyung shook his head- "I get it. Don't apologize please. We're good." Jungkook nodded. "Animator. I'm an animator for Daily Network."
"Impressive" Taehyung responded. "I'm a freelance content writer." "Interesting, so u have a way with words?" Jungkook chimed in. "Only on paper, I guess. My ex-fiancé is a psychologist. He diagnosed me with 'Alexithymia'-inability to express emotions n left me because of it."
"What a turd!" Jungkook said under his breath. Taehyung chuckled and Jungkook felt pleased with himself for making Taehyung laugh. Over the next few hours, they discussed common interests (which seemed far too many) n least favorite people (aka- the bride n the groom!)
"My ex girlfriend....the fact that she was cheating on me, were known to these two- Seok Woo n Mee-Kyung... they said they 'forgot to tell me' because they were busy with the wedding preparations..." "Turds." Taehyung said, borrowing the insult from Jungkook.
"Do you dance?" Jungkook asked to change the topic. "Umm... yes. But my dancing skills are directly proportional to the alcohol inside my body!" Jungkook laughed "In that case," he said, looking around for the bar "I'll make sure you are Micheal Jackson before the party ends!"
Jungkook found out that Taehyung was a good dancer, with or without the alcohol... but definitely more fun after some gin & tonic. Taehyung discovered that Jungkook, a stranger, seemed to have no difficulty reading his emotions and that really helped him loosen up.
They were having an amazing time and had almost forgotten why they were on the same table when suddenly, Jungkook looked over Taehyung’s shoulder and froze. "What the fck?! This can't be happening. How could they..." He mumbled.
Taehyung raised his eyebrows in question. "They invited my ex and the guy she cheated on me with!" Jungkook said angrily, his chest heaving with his deep breaths. "Excuse me, I need a moment." He said as he got up. Taehyung nodded.
He saw Jungkook walk towards the bar. Taehyung really wanted to do something to soothe him or say something to divert his mind... but he wasn't sure how much interference Jungkook would appreciate.
Taehyung looked around for Jungkook to ensure that he's fine, but he saw Jungkook's ex walking towards the bar. "Not on my watch, cheater." Taehyung said out loud.
Jungkook was waiting for his drink to calm his nerves when he heard a familiar voice call his name. His ex had the audacity to walk up to him! "I've been trying to get through to you. I wanted to apologize... I've liked Hyun Joo for a while now and...
But before Jungkook could hear the rest of her bullshit, he felt an arm slip around his waist and Taehyung’s now familiar cologne fill his senses. "Hey, I thought you were getting my drink baby!" Taehyung said in his deep soothing voice, placing a small peck on Jungkook’s cheek.
Jungkook looked almost as shocked as his ex, but he recovered quickly. "Hey,sorry, I ran into someone.." he said with a sheepish grin. "Umm Taehyung meet..." "Yeah, whatever, pleasure... ," Taehyung said, cutting him short n giving a very fake smile to his ex, "lets go back."
He dragged Jungkook to the dance floor and put his hands around his waist, pulling him closer. "What just happened?!" Jungkook said, breaking into a giggle. "Don't look but she's still standing rooted there with her mouth open." Taehyung said, giggling back.
Jungkook couldn't stop laughing. "Oh my God! That was... you're amazing Kim Taehyung! Crazy, but amazing!" "Michael! Call me Michael!" He said laughing, as he twirled Jungkook around and pulled him closer.
When they parted, they both wished they had met at a better time in life... // But they met again the next day, just 'to catch up'... And again during the week 'to check out Jungkook’s work place.' And yet again on the weekend, 'because they happened to be in the same area.'
It was almost a month and around 15 'chance meetings' later when they were catching up on a coffee- 'just like that' when Jungkook suddenly mused- 'I hate the fact that we are together because of our insensitive cousins...'
Taehyung nodded pensively. "Are we together?" He asked curiously. Jungkook panicked. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to... Only if you..." Taehyung put his face in his palms and his elbows on the table as he calmly observed Jungkook's struggle.
"Lets not tell Seok Woo and Mee Kyung about it, ok?" He said serenely. Jungkook chuckled. "Umm.. okay." "And if we ever get married... we arent inviting them, ok?" He said nonchalantly. Jungkook laughed nervously. "You're crazy, Taehyung."
Taehyung smiled. "Is that bad?" Jungkook shook his head. "No.. Its cute." "Good." Taehyung said with a grin. "Incidentally, my cuteness is also directly proportional to the alcohol in my body." Jungkook laughed as he fell a little more for 'that guy from the singles table.'
Or Taekook AU where Taehyung and Jungkook bond over things they mutually hate only to find themselves in a relationship they mutually hoped for!
A/N I miss attending weddings and I really miss Taekook. Thus... 🤷‍♀️🥺💜 curiouscat.qa/CourtJester_TK
