After almost three years of painstaking effort, today, I'm excited to present my team's amazing work on specifying human oogonia via combinatorial transcription factor induction in iPSCs! πŸ₯³ An incredible collaboration with my good friend @Christian Kramme, PhD! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

It all started with a graph theory algorithm to identify "central" TFs in the oogenesis gene regulatory network, and later turned into an all-out screening effort in primordial germ cells (hPGCLCs), leading to publications in @Cell Reports Methods and @StemCellReports. πŸ’»β†’πŸ§«
In the end, we identified a subset of TFs (termed DNR3) that, when overexpressed in hiPSCs, generate induced oogonia/oocyte-like cells (iOLCs)! Our iOLCs can be maintained in feeder-free conditions and be expanded post-isolation. πŸ’ͺ🏾
During all of this, I co-founded @Gameto alongside @Martin Varsavsky πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦, and we raised ~$2 million for this effort, which is now being spearheaded by @Christian Kramme, PhD and @Dina Radenkovic, who recently raised an amazing Series A round for the company! 🀩 gametogen.com
Alongside my incredible co-authors/students, we are now underway with the arduous review process! πŸ˜… Please take a read and let us know of your thoughts. We have a long way to go, but would love to have you join us on the path toward female reproductive longevity. 🌟
