Reasons why I love Chief Mackenzie Bock in The Batman (2022) A thread:

The Batman (2022) didn't have many new additions from the comics except one standout character, Chief Mackenzie Bock portrayed by Con O' Neill. Last comic appearance in the No Man’s Land event, and he is clearly different from his comic book counterpart!

Mackenzie “Hardback” Bock's first appearance was in Detective Comics #681 (January, 1995) Born in New York City, where he served as a police officer making a name for himself. Lt. Sarah Essen, decides to transfer to Gotham asking Bock to join her.

Bock was known as a clean cop, befriending others like him, such as Montoya, Jim Gordon and even Bullock (despite his habit of stretching the law) It was Bullock who noticed how many books Mackenzie read, thus giving him the nickname Mackenzie “Hardback“ Bock.

The biggest problem for Bock in Gotham, was trusting vigilantes. However the first vigilante Bock came in contact with, and the one he would come to like the most, was Robin, while investigating and facing the KGBeast.

Robin and Mackenzie Bock would later team up on more adventures to stop criminals in Gotham. Even appearing on a cover of Robin.

Bock soon followed several cases, witnessing the worst criminals of Gotham City, as well as a massive earthquake, declaring the city No Man’s Land. Even in a place like No Man’s Land Gotham, Bock stayed true to his mission and badge. Protecting as many people as he could.
