Senate reports details inefficiencies, confusion at key U.S. counterintelligence center
They have a nifty logo and all, but their mission hasn't been updated since 2002. Ya know, before social media. I'm not sure where NCIX Michael Orlando is on things. I'd be looking at @Just Security or @Lawfare for that.
But here are some things I do know. Andrew Auernheimer went from U.S. to Lebanon to Serbia to Kharkiv and now seems to be in Transnistria. That would be the last surviving bit of the Soviet Union. Russia has a history of funding divisive movements all over the world.
Josh Moon's Australian shell, Flow Chemical Pty, was registered by a Chinese national. It's not clear if that's real, or just a troll - the guy being from Hohhot just seemed a little lulzy to me. But there was a good trail on him and his family: dropbox.com/sh/tk0kpmft27p…
I do not yet know how closely Moon's trajectory followed Auernheimer's, but he got out of the U.S. and ended up in Serbia. The trans-hating Kiwi Farms site is precisely the sort of thing Russian intel would have leaned in on, a cheap way to fund a lot of negativity here.
Given the stale mission parameters for the NCSC and the all in nature of @Justice Department on right wing extremism, it's not clear what's going on here at the ground level.
As I'm typing this out, my phone rang, an expected call. I'm describing this to someone and hearing about intel gain/loss calculus on Ukraine. "Are you willing to explain all of this to DHS?" "Yup, I'd be happy to do so."
So there ya go. I'm not a fan of the FBI, feel free to Google until you find my OIG complaint. But DHS has never given offense, so I'm happy to lend a hand on this matter. If you're a Kiwi Farms regular ... basically, run.
