#BillieHoliday - Lady in Satin (1958)
”Lady in Satin” is Billie’s penultimate album recorded and released in her lifetime. Her vocal range on this record was drastically different and had taken on a raspy and delicate texture from her years of alcohol and drug use.
During its initial release the record received mixed reviews from critics and her producer,
#RayEllis was even unhappy with her vocal performance when listening back to her takes. It wasn’t until hearing the final mix that he realized how marvelous her performance was.
