Positioning female people as a dominant/privileged group within the category "woman" is being used to legitimise violent misogyny. People who felt socially censured from expressing their hatred before can now pretend this is the justified rage of the marginalised.
This isn't random, or bad luck. It is a fundamental problem with deciding female people are dominant/privileged "as women" in an world where female people are oppressed - as human beings - in relation to male people.
It's a problem with the belief system itself and ignoring it while nominally - occasionally - deploring the consequences will not solve it.
