Genocidal Russia is the Nazi Germany of today – not the Soviet Union of the past.

Nazi Germany and Bolshevik Russia were both criminal totalitarian regimes. The Russian terrorist state of today inherits the worst of both. Policy-makers need to abandon the notion Russia is a peer power (as the USSR was, in some respects) and think about Russians as Nazis.
Ukraine has undergone denazification and decommunization. Ukraine has a wise law: "On the Condemnation of the Communist and National Socialist (Nazi) Regimes, and Prohibition of Propaganda of their Symbols." There are no public monuments to Hitler or Lenin or Stalin in Ukraine.
