The Salmonid Corpse Rot, as the name suggests, was originally a salmonid related disease, developed by their ancestors during their mating season. Most salmonids have since then become immune to its deadly effects as they are all infected, but some may still experience rotting

Until very recently, only individuals in the salmonidae family were thought to be able to contract the disease, and as such, all whitefish, chars and trouts had mandatory vaccines administered by the inkopolis and Splatsville medical agencies

However, it seems that the newly found proximity between inkfish and salmonids over the last few years after Grizzco's creation has lead to multiple virus mutations that now allows it to infect inkfish. If you've recently worked for Grizzco, please consider quarantining yourself

This virus actively transforms one's brain to make them feel the need to find a romantic partner. In salmonids, this translates in salmon run behavior associated with mating and laying of golden eggs. In inkfish, it gives the infected a desperate need for affection.

Here is a list of alarming behaviors you should be looking for when it comes to self diagnosing SCR :

One thing to note is that infected individuals seem to have the same intelligence as non-infected ones. The diseases increases certain types of behavior but does not necessarily change one's core personality.

For this reason, fighting off the disease has been particularly difficult, as infected subjects often don't understand that they are sick and simply believe that they are either experiencing a burst of energy or that they are going through a depressive state of mind.

SCR currently has no cure, but several of our scientists are currently working on different ways to fight off the disease. In the meantime, we kindly request you to stay at home and wear a mask in public ! It would be a shame for you to end up like her
