Imam Ibn Kathir on the Imam of the Muslims, Abu Hanifa
"He is Imam Abu Hanifa, and his name is Nu'man bin Thabit Al-Taimi, and his mother was from Al-Kufa. He was a jurist from Iraq, one of the leading scholars of Islam, an outstanding personality, a pillar of knowledge and +++
one of the four Imams of the different legal schools. He is the oldest among them in terms of death, as he lived during the time of the Sahaba and saw, among others, Anas bin Malik.
Some have mentioned that he narrated from seven of the Companions, but Allah knows best.
He narrated from a group of the Tabi'een, including Al-Hakam, Hammad bin Abi Sulaiman, Salamah bin Kuhayl, 'Amr Al-Sha'bi, 'Ikrimah, 'Ata', Qatadah, Al-Zuhri, Nafi', the Mawla of Ibn 'Umar, Yahya bin Sa'id Al-Ansari, and Abu Ishaq Al-Sabi'i
Many have narrated from him, including
his son Hammad, Ibrahim bin Tahman, Ishaq bin Yusuf Al-Azraq, Asad bin 'Amr Al-Qadi, Al-Hasan bin Ziyad Al-Lu'lu'i, Hamza Al-Ziyat, Dawud Al-Tai, Zafar, 'Abdul Razzaq, Abu Nu'aim, Muhammad bin Al-Hasan Al-Shaybani, Hashim, Waki', and Abu Yusuf Al-Qadi. Yahya bin Ma'een said:
He was trustworthy, known for his honesty, and was never accused of lying. Ibn Habib had once appointed him as a judge, but he refused to become a judge.
Yahya bin Sa'eed preferred Abu Hanifa's opinions when issuing Fatawa. He said: 'We do not lie about Allah!
We have never heard better opinions than those of Abu Hanifa, and we have followed most of his views.'
Abdullah bin Al-Mubarak said: 'If it were not for Allah's help through Abu Hanifa and Sufyan Al-Thawri, I would have been like other people.' Al-Shafi'i said about him:
Imām Mālik was asked: "Have you seen Abū Hanīfa?" He replied: "Yes, I saw a man, if he was to speak to you in regards to this pole, he would (convince) you it's gold with the establishment of his evidences."
Al-Shafi'i also said: 'If someone seeks jurisprudence, they should follow Abu Hanifa; if someone seeks asceticism, they should follow Muhammad bin Ishaq; if someone seeks Hadith, they should follow Malik; and if someone seeks interpretation (of the Quran), they should follow
Muqatil bin Sulayman.' Abdullah bin Dawud Al-Harbi said: 'People should pray for Abu Hanifa in their prayers, for he has preserved jurisprudence and the Sunnah for them.'
Sufyan Al-Thawri and Ibn Al-Mubarak said: 'Abu Hanifa was the most knowledgeable jurist of his time.'
Abu Nu'aim said: 'He was a deep researcher in legal matters.'
Maki bin Ibrahim said: 'He was the most knowledgeable person on earth.' Al-Khatib narrated with his chain from Asad bin Amr that Abu Hanifa used to pray at night and recite the Quran every night, and he wept until his
neighbors had compassion for him.
He spent forty years praying Fajr with the Wudu of Isha and completed the Quran seventy thousand times at the place of his death. He died in Rajab of this year - meaning the year 150 AH - and according to Ibn Ma'een, it was in the year 151 AH.
Others said it was in the year 153 AH. The first opinion is the correct one."

As for not being in sahiyain, is shafi in bukhari? Or even ahmad I am not sure about ahmad but shafi isn't in there
