Let's talk local, shall we? In a recent facebook post earlier today, @Port City Daily claimed that @New Hanover County Schools Board of Ed candidate Tim Merrick had never before sought public office. "Tim Merrick, a Democratic candidate for the NHCS board, is a retired chiropractor and semi-retired consultant. This will be the first time he has sought public office." FACT : FALSE The claim also contradicts PCD's previous reporting from January 15, 2024, as well that which lives on the forever-net. "Merrick has not served a local office before; however, he was a representative to the Department of Public Information of the United Nations in New York City. He also sought candidacy in the New York State Senate and was elected City Democratic Chair in Plattsburgh, NY." Sought candidacy? NO. He ran and LOST. Merrick lost his 2006 race to Republican incumbent @Betty Little who held the seat until 2019 when she announced she would not be seeking re-election. Tim Merrick is a POLITICIAN. A failed one. I bet Betty has some stories! #ncpol
