In 1165 Saladin set up a debate between a Catholic Monk and three Sunni Jurists, and it ends with the monk trolling a jurist into accepting the Trinity, Saladin laughing at him, and another jurist interjecting that he won only for Saladin to tell him to shut up
Saladin lying down at the end is so funny. He was well known for walking around in pajamas while at home and not holding his servants to a particularly high standard. Extremely chill guy considering the Hashishin later left death threat notes in his personal quarters twice
Also interesting is how this Islamic misunderstanding of the Trinity continues to this day. I'm pretty sure I've had the same conversations with (ginger) Muslim converts who think the trinity is 3 separate Gods or something
Bit late to this but repliers have pointed out that "The Prince" is likely Saladin's son and the monk was Armenian, not Catholic. Zero reading comprehension on my part. It also might not be true at all
