Oakland Observer is at the BOS meeting reporting on the AASEG items today: "adoption of resolution confirming County's commitment" to AASEG deal and the term sheet for the Development Agreement [DA] transfer from the A's which will make the sale from the A's final.

As many guessed, Bas arrival at BOS expedited the transfer of the DA to AASEG. Bas is introducing the term sheet legislation; "these two documents together will help to facilitate the sale of the Coliseum to the [AASEG/Loop LLC]. This will allow County to prepare transfer docs
Bas says there are amendments to term sheet which are being read in...screen shots. The amendments ensure that if Oakland Acquisition Company sells, the release of county liability for hazardous materials would continue; giving OAC/AASEG enough time to settle Goolsby suit.
In her comments, County Counsel Donna Ziegler noted that AASEG/OAC has expressed desire to close by May 31.
There's about three dozen speakers in support of AASEG deal, including Trades, Barbara Leslie of Chamber of Commerce, Kitty Kelly Epstein, Alan Dones of AASEG among others.
A speaker, affordable housing developer says that AASEG should get a better deal than the A's not the other way around. Like many other speakers, praising AASEG as a different kind of developer with community's interest at heart.
Speaker is an AASEG representative, east oakland native who grew up around the Coliseum, says it will revitalize the area
A tree worker representing SEIU 1021, says the sale is necessary to avoid cuts that would balance the budget on the backs of workers
As a reporter working on development for several years, I don't think I've heard this level of community support for a project. It's hard to believe how much antagonism was whipped up against it, and have to conclude it was aided by corporate media.
Ray Bobbitt the President of AASEG is again thanking county, county counsel, board and negotiator. "this is a great opportunity for this treasure...we've had so many circumstances where people haven't been positive toward us as a region..." but the Coli deal will reverse that
Paul Cobb, publisher of Oakland Post mildly criticizes BOS for sense "we wonder if this Black group has the money...depressing capital partners that want to invest...if you pass this, this will allow investment...let's not release the hazardous material of neglect and racism"
Lots of City of Oakland unions today. Julian Ware says the County must act today to take advantage of opportunities, unloading the burden of maintaining the Coliseum and the development benefits
Local biz owner: "This action is more than a transaction. It is a lifeline of our community. By approving the step you're paving the way for the job creation, strengthening our tax base, and also revitalizing the entire East Bay region"
Seth Olyer, VP of IAFF 55: "OFD is part of an entire response apparatus for all of ALCO, and right now that apparatus is damaged, and so this coliseum sale is going to go a long way to making sure OFD has what it needs to be able to respond and be good partners in the county"
Olyer also commented on what a large crowd has come out. Not in camera sight, but Interim Mayor Jenkins is in room as well.
Building Trades' Cluver: "[developers] are fully committed. And I do think that is part of your mission. Your mission here is, is to facilitate entry into good jobs for folks that normally wouldn't have that so we strongly urge you to support this move this forward"
Lots of Oakland firefighters here tonight. It's worth noting that an outcome of this DA transfer could be the arrival of the first 10 MM tranche of the Coliseum sale, which will reopen fire houses.
Rep from East Bay Dragons says they support deal: "We see ups, highs & lows. This project can't do anything but help people in community...I was told a long time ago, it doesn't make a difference how much money we make in our lifetime, it's how much of a difference"
Interim Mayor Kevin Jenkins: "this means to us is the billions of dollars... in investment for Oakland, & specifically East Oakland, which has been disinvested in....my district is devoid of major grocery store, devoid of major restaurant, devoid of a major banking institution...
That was it for public comment. There were dozens more speakers, Haubert also noted how many supporters there were in audience, asking supporters who didn't speak to raise hands, and then opposed, and there were none of the latter.
Miley in his comments thanked Bas for getting the term sheet for the DA transfer "we now have an opportunity to have Coliseum area live up to its potential...and this is still part of the journey. This gets us closer to fulfilling something that all of you and many others want."
Bas: "It is not often, especially after last year, that we see this level of unity among such a diverse group of people. So I think that's pretty remarkable to see this level of unity in the community...
Bas: "a critical step in showing the public that this board is committed to closing the deal and specifically provides our board's direction to county staff to prepare the final agreements that will assign a single entity to own the site"
Donna Ziegler interjected to make sure that the public knows the County is not voting on a project or deal, it's just voting on a term sheet to transfer the A's DA to AASEG/OAC
Unanimous vote of all 5 BOS on the term sheet to applause. Worth noting, Ziegler interjected again to note that the term sheet is not legally binding.
