UPDATE: The Washington Post and The Bergen Record have shared additional details about 14-year-old American Amer Mohammad Saada Rabee, from Saddle Brook, NJ, who was killed by Israeli forces on Sunday in Turmus Ayya, West Bank. He was shot alongside two 15-year-old friends, including Ayoub Jabara, also an American citizen, who is now in intensive care. They report:
➤ Amer Rabee grew up in New Jersey and moved to the West Bank town of Turmus Ayya in elementary school. It is a popular summer destination for many Palestinian Americans and its mayor said 85% of the town holds dual Palestinian-American citizenship.
➤ The town’s residents have pleaded with U.S. officials for protection from settler violence, who have torched homes and cars and fired at residents, and demanded accountability for crimes against them.
➤ There is also additional reporting on the circumstances of Amer’s death:

The Palestinian American Community Center stated: “The ambulance [Rabee was being transferred in] was not allowed to pass the checkpoint for 30 minutes, a denial in medical treatment that ultimately resulted in Amer’s death.”

Israeli forces detained Amer before his death at the hospital and later returned his body with multiple bullet wounds, according to relatives.
➤ Amer was shot along with two 15-year-old friends:

Ayoub Jabara, also an American citizen, who is now in intensive care in Ramallah

Abdulrahman Shihada, who was also hospitalized.

According to Suha Jabara, a relative of Amer, Jabara and Shihada escaped the scene despite their injuries, and were later transferred to the hospital by a separate Palestinian ambulance.
➤ The Palestinian American Community Center is calling on the U.S. to investigate Amer’s killing, saying the U.S. “has a duty to protect and bring justice to its citizens.”
➤ On Sunday evening, Amer’s two brothers, their uncle, and the uncle’s wife, who live in Wayne, NJ, traveled to Palestine for his funeral.
