Hi,
I am Ravi Handa and I retired at 39 with 10+ crores.
I didn’t buy Bitcoin at ₹10 or pick multibaggers. I just avoided bad financial decisions and made decent money.
That was enough.
But most people aren’t that lucky. So I built something for them.
In 2005 - 2015, I read ET Wealth, watched CNBC, and didn’t buy ULIPs.
In 2016, I started earning well and took personal finance seriously.
Tried talking to "advisors" - mostly felt like they were selling something.
Even today it is hard to find someone you can trust.
Everyone I met:
Wanted to hit a quota
Pushed insurance as investment
Didn’t understand risk or asset allocation
I wanted someone unbiased, patient, knowledgeable, trustworthy and available when I actually need him.
Impossible, right?
Unless it’s AI.
So when I saw a friend build a Custom GPT for business quiz prep, I thought: “If that IDIOT can make one, I can too.”
(He’s a friend. I’m allowed. The fact that he went to IIM-A does not change that.)
And so began the journey of building Handa Uncle.
A personal finance chatbot made for Indians.
Free.
Honest.
Available 24x7.
Doesn’t upsell.
Doesn’t judge.
Doesn’t pitch ULIPs.
Just clear advice in plain language.
It’s not perfect. In fact, it’s buggy as hell.
Sometimes the asset allocation adds up to 113%
Sometimes it thinks LTCG on equity is still 10%
Sometimes the link doesn’t work on the iOs app.
But it’s still better than most RMs.
In the last 15 days:
I’ve shared it on Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp groups
People have had 400+ conversations with Handa Uncle.
I got a message yesterday which said - "It has sorted my financial life."
That convinced me - it is time to write the twitter thread.
Handa Uncle might not be better than your advisor.
Or me. Or ChatGPT. Or your dad.
But it’s good enough for most Indians - and that’s more than we can say for most advice out there.
And it’s 100% free.
I genuinely believe Handa Uncle solves India’s advisory problem.
I know very little tech.
I know very little finance.
I have spent virtually no money on it till now. (~14k)
Just a lot of free time after early retirement.
Now I need help taking it to the next level.
I don't know what the next level is, because Handa Uncle is pretty awesome already, but I know that I will figure it out.
Till then:
Try it. Break it. Give feedback.
