Recent events have again reminded me that people don't know about The Scam. So here it is again in case you forgot or are encountering it being said out loud for the first time. The Scam is that your opinion matters.

Your opinions matter a lot when they are about the influenceable aspects of your own life. But that provides no energy for the vampires. Opinions unmoored from feedback loops create redirectable energy, which means vampires can fight over it.

So there's constant churn, looking for events in this huge 8 billion person world that will generate the maximum free energy, and then a resultant fight breaks out over who will get to frack that newly opened well.

Someone trying to convince you to have Opinions about abstract concepts isn't your friend. They want you as food. If you nope out they will jump to the next level of trying to make you an allied vampire since, to them, to know about The Scam is to participate.

One easy thing to do is to look for frequency of multiordinal words, words that have varying definitions at different levels of abstraction. The more someone is using such language, the more they are exploiting the lack of type safety in your abstraction compiler.

They don't really care about how their language corresponds to reality, they just try different combinations until one of them generates a reaction from you, free energy!

You may have noticed that these aren't typically extreme phrases, your system is good at throwing those out. The best are phrases that most precisely scissor one of your internal fault lines. This recruits maximum response from both sides of the fault.

Devoting attention to areas of strife makes a lot of sense when you're operating in a band of 150 people for whom everything is a direct question. Being a person who others need to check in with makes you feel higher status.

Why do public figures feel the need to preface statements about current events with their own opinion about the opinion of those directly involved in current events? Regardless of faction? Because this reinforces that Opinions are Very Important and you should have some.

Use it to your advantage. The societal search process is doing lots of work that you can repurpose. When activated:

I will not opine, opinions are the little parasite that leads to total mind capture. I will turn the inner eye to the opinion, I will spend quality time with each side and see their truth. When the opinion has passed, only I will remain.

I encourage you to see the truth in the opposite of what I'm saying.
