About to start a special public safety meeting that's taking the place of a cancelled Finance Committee meeting at 9:30am. Don't expect too much here...there's one time a firesafe grant for goat grazing. Will keep an eye on anything, but this may be the extent of the thread.

The meeting has begun. Houston is absent. May be quick meeting.

Chair Wang praises outgoing Chief Mitchell. She claims Mitchell has helped the City get out of NSA, but that's not a very objective view of his performance at the NSA at July.

Wang also said that PERB stats show that the average chief stays 7 years, noting Oakland's much shorter tenure average "we have some work to do".

Just before taking the item, Wang noted the recent City Auditor report on 911 staffing; she says they'll be taking it up soon at a future meeting

The grant will create a modest enhancement in the goat grazing program

The grant passed, will be forwarded to 10/21 council mtg

meeting adjourns per Houston's request, they close the meeting with Love Life credo, but Houston didn't bring the statement, and asked Fife to read it
