We’re going to keep fighting for a South where regardless of your zip code, you’re guaranteed the right to an education and tools you need to succeed. Today, republicans on the North Carolina State Supreme Court said that children who are born in rural communities deserve less.

JUST IN: In a 4-3 decision, the state Supreme Court tosses out Leandro lawsuit. "The people did not vest the judicial branch with the power to resolve policy disputes between the other branches of government or to set education policy," majority writes. #ncpol
That children who are born in majority Black communities deserve less. That children who are born into poor communities deserve less. The message is clear: rural North Carolina does not matter and communities across our state can continue to suffer and fall behind.
Republicans in our state do not care. Rural communities deserve better, and I hope Republican justices who don’t live in these areas, don’t see this suffering day-to-day have a rude wake up call come November. I’m going to ensure it.
Don’t forget to re-elect Justice Anita Earls to the State Supreme Court in 2026! She was one of 3 who dissented from the decision today. ⬇️ earls4justice.com
