NC Dems are showing up with a people-first agenda in the General Assembly, focused on lowering costs and improving folks’ everyday lives. Let’s talk about our 2026 priorities ⬇️ (a thread)

️⃣ Raise the minimum wage NC Dems are pushing for a path to $15/hr (with $11 minimum for small businesses) Did you know? 💸~1.2 million workers in NC earn under $15/hr 💸The minimum wage hasn’t increased in 20 years Workers deserve wages that meet the reality of rising costs.
️⃣2️⃣ Housing affordability NC Dems are proposing policies to: ✔️increase the supply of housing ✔️encourage denser development ✔️ban massive corporate landlords ✔️help moderate-income families buy homes The best way to reduce housing costs is to build, and NC Dems are working to increase the availability of housing in our state.
️⃣3️⃣ Holding data centers accountable Our state is a hub for tech and companies are making big plans for building up AI infrastructure across NC. Your Dem lawmakers are proposing guardrails, because: ⚡corporations shouldn’t be able to shove energy/water costs onto residents 💧we deserve transparency and environmental standards
️⃣ Working people first Democrats are tackling the real problems: 🏠 rising housing costs 🔌 rising utility bills 🧾 stagnant wages Real problems—not BS from the folks who are hundreds of days overdue on a budget.
️⃣ … it's not going to be easy Democrats are still in the minority in the NCGA, so getting our priorities into law is going to be an uphill battle. But this still matters, because we’re committed to showing our neighbors across NC what a better future could look like if politicians put people first.
️⃣ #1 for business, #1 for workers? North Carolina is your reigning CNBC champ for “best state for business,” and is yet again the worst state in America for workers. We can walk and chew gum, y’all. NC Dems are working to build a state that works for workers, renters, and families too—not just corporations.
