Lack of Notice: Mayors in North Carolina—such as in Fayetteville—expressed concern and anger because they were not notified that New York City was sending homeless families to their towns. No Support System: Local officials worried that NYC was simply exporting its homeless population without giving the host cities the money or social services needed to help them.
