Charlotte City Council appears on track to pass a 9 p.m. curfew for kids under 18. Councilmembers JD Mazuera Arias and Renee Johnson voiced opposition to the changes in their current form. But most councilmembers appear on board with Chief Estella Patterson's request. Chief Patterson said there will be no "curfew police." But she said this would be an important tool. Councilmember Ed Driggs says teen takeovers are "a troubling breakdown of societal conduct." Councilmember Dante Anderson pointed out the current curfew allows 13 year olds to be out until 11 pm. She said the city could be exposing them to "higher moments of victimization." A vote could come as soon as in two weeks
