NC Youth Coach Sentenced to Over 10 Years in Prison for Child Sex Abuse Material (CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C.) -- Nathaniel Willard Byrd, 38, a youth coach from Hudson, N.C., was sentenced today in Charlotte. He received 121 months in federal prison for receiving child sexual abuse material and will be on supervised release for an additional 30 years. Investigators found he stored CSAM in a cloud account, including videos of children ages 2–12 and the torture of an 18‑month‑old. A 2024 search of his home uncovered a phone with BitTorrent and more than 1,300 files of child sexual abuse, including 278 videos. Byrd admitted downloading the material and pleaded guilty in December 2025. He remains in federal custody and will be transferred to a Bureau of Prisons facility.
